Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is a major public health challenge recognised by the WHO as an urgent global healthcare concern. Patients in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are particularly prone to colonisation and/or infection by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs).

Objectives: Delineate the epidemiological characteristics and risk factors for MDROs colonisation in mixed ICUs and Resuscitation Units by focusing on initial and nosocomial colonisation.

Introduction: This study discusses the experiences of nurses in Spanish prisons during the HIV/AIDS pandemic, emphasizing administrative changes and adaptive measures, such as the creation of the Subdirectorate General of Penitentiary Health.

Objective: We describe the experiences of nurses in Spanish penitentiary centers in the face of the HIV/AIDS.

Materials And Methods: The interpretative and phenomenological approach explored experiences between 1981 and 2023 through focus groups and convenience sampling.

Objective: Multi-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (MRE) are a public health threat, with screening and isolation strategies being important to stop its dissemination. Multiplex PCR is a novel method capable of rapid diagnosis with high sensitivity and specificity. In this study, our objective was to evaluate its application to multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae management since its implementation in our hospital.

Background: Chronic hepatitis B (HB) remains a significant global health concern, despite the widespread availability of the HB vaccine. While the standard vaccine demonstrates an impressive serological response rate exceeding 90%, a subset of individuals exhibit suboptimal immunity. This study aims to elucidate the efficacy of the AS04C-adjuvanted HB vaccine in addressing non-responsiveness.

Introduction: Dynamic movement in the hospital environment promotes the transmission of nosocomial pathogens and multidrug resistance mechanisms through the dissemination of organisms that carry genetic determinants. Healthcare workers play an important role in the spread of pathogens; however, the role of visitors in this environment is poorly understood.

Objective: This study aimed to molecularly identify and examine the antibiotic resistance of the palmar microbiota of patients' companions in a hospital waiting room.

Objective: Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) are at increased risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection as well as a lower response to vaccination. This study aimed to analyze the immune response after vaccination against HBV in patients diagnosed with IBD and its associated factors.

Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted on patients with IBD treated at the vaccination clinic for at-risk patients at the during the period 2011-2018.

The dynamic microbiota of the human palmar surface (PS) is related to the various hygienic habits of humans and can be transmitted or exchanged upon contact with objects of daily use, such as the indispensable touchscreen cell phone (TCP); this interaction could allow the development of drug-resistant bacteria. The objective was to determine the drug-resistant bacterial contamination between PSs and TCPs in an urban community. Among the total bacterial colonies isolated and molecular and phylogenetically characterized based on the V4-V6 regions of the 16S rRNA gene from PSs and TCPs, the genera present in both types of samples were Staphylococcus (53.

The continual increase in resistance to antibacterial drugs has become a major public health problem, and their indiscriminate use in agriculture, aquaculture, and the treatment of human and animal diseases has severely contributed to the occurrence and spread of multidrug resistance genes. This study phylogenetically characterized multidrug-resistant bacteria isolated from seafood cocktails. Seafood cocktail dishes from 20 establishments on public roads were sampled.

This research analysed the options that, following decent employment and the social economy, can allow the human development of poor, excluded and vulnerable indigenous populations in Ecuador. A set of strategies were developed which can be implemented by public authorities and by community organisations. They were designed from two types of expert consultations: the Delphi method and the analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) combined with Analytic Hierarchy Process method (AHP) for hierarchizing the criteria collected and obtaining strategies.

The widespread use of touch-screen mobile devices renders them potential fomites for the transmission of bacterial pathogens among users of different ages. The objectives of the present research were to isolate bacteria from mobile phones, perform molecular and phylogenetic identification, and determine the antibiotic resistance profiles. The surfaces of 50 touch-screen mobile devices owned by bystanders were sampled in the city center of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Purpose: Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) with left ventricular (LV) MultiPoint™ pacing (MPP) has been shown to improve CRT response by pacing two LV sites (LV1, LV2). While an additional LV pacing site reduces battery longevity, this cost can be minimized by leveraging an existing device-based capture management algorithm (LVCap™ Confirm). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the MPP battery longevity improvement achieved by configuring LV pacing sites to properly leverage LVCap Confirm.

In Spain, the right to clinical information and informed consent as a practical expression of the principle of autonomy, are legal conquests achieved in the late twentieth century. From the law they have been transferred to the codes of medical deontology. The aim of this work is to study the pace of this transfer.

The characteristics of mental disorders, as well as deficiencies in their treatment, must be properly defined. This was a prospective, longitudinal, observational study, in which all men referred to a penitentiary psychiatric consultation of three penitentiary centers in Spain were invited to participate. Those who consented to participation (1328) were interviewed at the baseline timepoint and at intervals for up to 3 years.

Background: A left ventricular (LV) endocardial lead implant to achieve cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is feasible when a conventional implant failed due to anatomical or technical issues or when the venous implant was performed but the patient did not respond to the therapy.

Methods: Data about the implantation procedure (age, sex, clinical characteristics, anticoagulant use, and previous devices), patient characteristics (indication, technique used, lead model, complications), and follow-up (clinical and echocardiographic outcome, LV lead electrical measurements) were analyzed for all CRT systems implanted using LV endocardial lead, due to failed conventional implant or nonresponse, between April 2011 and November 2016.

Results: Thirty-five patients were implanted with an active fixation LV endocardial lead during the study period, without significant complications.

Aims: A prospective, single-arm, multicentre, post-market study was conducted to confirm the short-term safety of the Nanostim™ leadless pacemaker (LP). In this study, we report the primary results of the LEADLESS Observational Study.

Methods And Results: Subjects meeting VVIR pacemaker indications were enrolled and followed up after successful LP implantation, prior to discharge and post-implantation at 90 days, 180 days, and every 6 months thereafter for the assessment of adverse events.
