Idiopathic granulomatous orchitis (IGO) is a rare inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology affecting the testis. Presented here is the case of a young patient who developed IGO, potentially associated with an anti-sperm antibody-mediated autoimmune response.

Biomarkers for Predicting Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma in a Mexican Population.

Diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) remains a challenge, especially when resources in pathology are limited. The study aimed to evaluate cost-effective tumor markers to predict the probability of MPM in plasma samples in order to accelerate the diagnostic workup of the tissue of potential cases. We conducted a case-control study stratified by gender, which included 75 incident cases with MPM from three Mexican hospitals and 240 controls frequency-matched by age and year of blood drawing.

Clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus by the Mexican College of Rheumatology.

There are national and international clinical practice guidelines for systemic lupus erythematosus treatment. Nonetheless, most of them are not designed for the Mexican population or are devoted only to the treatment of certain disease manifestations, like lupus nephritis, or are designed for some physiological state like pregnancy. The Mexican College of Rheumatology aimed to create clinical practice guidelines that included the majority of the manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus, and also incorporated guidelines in controversial situations like vaccination and the perioperative period.

In order to assess the clinical characteristics and survival rate of pulmonary hemorrhage (PH) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), we studied SLE patients who developed this complication. We found 34 patients within a total lupus cohort of 630 patients. All the patients had severe respiratory failure.
