Background: The purpose of this study is to analyze the long-term evolution of patients with small choroidal melanocytic tumors (SCMTs) undergoing observation, and to assess their rate of transformation into melanomas and survival.

Methods: A retrospective single-cohort study of patients with SCMTs (1-3 mm in height and 5-10 mm in base) diagnosed from January 1992 to February 2023 was carried out, with observation as the initial treatment. The main criterion for a transformation into melanoma is considered to be an increase in size of more than 1 mm in height and/or more than 1 mm in base measured on an ultrasound/retinography, recorded in two consecutive visits separated by one to three months.

Purpose: To explore the genetic background of choroidal and ciliary body melanoma among children and young adults, with special focus on BAP1 germline variants in this age group.

Methods: Patients under the age of 25 and with confirmed choroidal or ciliary body melanoma were included in this retrospective, multicenter observational study. Nuclear BAP1 immunopositivity was used to evaluate the presence of functional BAP1 in the tumor.

Focal reactive nodular gliosis (FRNG) is an extremely rare benign retinal reactive astrocytic tumor that results from the proliferation of well-differentiated glial cells secondary to a variety of retinal conditions. We describe a case of this tumor in a 64-year-old male in association with a chorioretinal scar he has had since childhood. The symptom was sudden painful vision loss.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the course of visual acuity (VA) in visual outcomes of patients treated with iodine-125 (I) brachytherapy in our center, based on original VA before treatment.

Material And Methods: Visual acuity was prospectively assessed using a case series of 305 patients treated with I between 1996 and 2022. To examine how VA behaves over time, we divided patient sample into 4 groups: (1) Patients with visual acuity of less than V ≤ 0.

Objective: To analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis and management of uveal melanoma (a tumor included in the Orphanet catalog of rare diseases) in a Spanish national reference unit for intraocular tumors during the first year of the pandemic.

Material And Methods: An observational retrospective study of patients with uveal melanoma in the National Reference Unit for Adult Intraocular Tumors of the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valladolid (Spain) was performed, analyzing the pre- and post-COVID-19 periods: from March 15, 2019 to March 15, 2020 and from March 16, 2020 to March 16, 2021. Demographic data, diagnostic delay, tumor size, extraocular extension, treatment and evolution were collected.

Introduction: High grade, non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is usually treated with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin. Chemohyperthermia therapy (CHT) may be a novel alternative therapy for the treatment of NMIBC.

Objective: To evaluate the recurrence-free survival (RFS) of patients treated with CHT using the Combat bladder recirculation system (BRS) for NMIBC.

Purpose: Conjunctival melanoma is a rare and aggressive tumor with a propensity for regional and distant metastases. This study aimed to analyze BRAF/NRAS markers in conjunctival melanoma and their relationship with tumor recurrences and patient prognosis.

Methods: This retrospective, observational, single-center study included consecutive patients with an anatomopathological diagnosis of conjunctival melanoma, registered between January 1992 and December 2019.

Metastases are the most common adult intraocular tumors. However, those located in the optic nerve are very uncommon and are usually associated with spread to other locations such as the central nervous system, which darkens the prognosis. There is a case of a 67-year-old woman who reports progressive vision loss in the right eye of 15 days of evolution.

A 68 year-old male was referred for assessment of an amelanotic lesion in the right eye (RE) that was associated with a gradual loss of visual acuity (VA), of 2 months onset, as the main symptom. It was noted in his medical history, that 6 years ago, he had prostate cancer treated with prostatectomy, lymphadenectomy, and coadjuvant local radiotherapy (RT). He was asymptomatic until 6 months ago, when a metastasis was discovered in the left femur, which was treated with radiotherapy.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze regression rates and local control of uveal melanoma patients treated with iodine-125 I) brachytherapy based on initial tumor apical height.

Material And Methods: Patients treated in a single institution from January 1, 1996 to 2019 with I plaques (ROPES and COMS) for uveal melanoma were included in this study. Patients treated with brachytherapy for iris and those treated with transpupillary thermotherapy prior to brachytherapy were excluded.

A 35-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital for urachal carcinoma with oligometastatic bone disease. He received a surgical resection through the umbilical area, urachal ligament and bladder dome (partial cystectomy) and adjuvant chemotherapy based on cisplatin-gemcitabine regimens together zoledronic acid with a good tolerance, no toxicity. Nine months after surgery, our patient presented no symptoms and the metastasis had been brought under control with no apparent signs of recurrence as assessed in a follow-up CT.
