(), or esparto, is a perennial tussock grass that coexists with () in semi-arid Mediterranean woodlands. This research was carried out to explore diurnal transpiration at leaf level in esparto grass under different levels of pine-esparto competition and in contrasting environmental soil water conditions. The measurement period spanned from the summer of 2020 to the spring of 2021.

The benefits of working with a biphasic system (water/methyl isobutyl ketone) under soft acid conditions were taken as starting point (no humins or levulinic acid production), with slow extraction kinetics as the weakest point of this approach. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and activated carbon (AC) were proposed to improve 5-HMF liquid-liquid mass transfer.

Reaction time, temperature, and pH were then modified, identifying 140 °C, 200 ppm of HCl, and 5 h as the optimum conditions for HMF formation (41 % selectivity; 0.

HMW SKC-EOM was rigorously characterized and described as a hydrophilic organic compound mainly comprised of polysaccharide-like structures. Lipids and proteins were also observed, although in lower abundance.

The main purpose of this research is to assess the suitability of three different wastes from the landfill of the local waste management company (COGERSA), to be used as solid recovered fuels in a cement kiln near their facilities. The wastes analyzed were: End of life vehicles waste, packaging and bulky wastes.

Traditionally, studies in this area have relied on before-and-after static comparisons to assess effectiveness, but new in situ tools are being developed to provide real-time assessments of irrigation. The aim in this work was to measure a cross section of the velocity field in the fluid flow around a polymer rotary finishing file in a model root canal.

Simple single-line forms of the theorem that are relatively easily interpreted can be obtained for n-dimensional functions by exploiting the convolution theorem and the rotation theorem of Fourier transform theory. The projection-slice theorem is presented in this form for two- and three-dimensional functions; generalization to higher dimensionality is briefly discussed.

In this study, we assessed respondents' understanding of context-specific differences in knowledge and perceptions of disease, risk, and prevention in 6 underserved communities, with the longer-term goal of developing appropriate interventions.
Methods: Thirty-nine small-group sessions and 14 interviews yielded data from 318 adults.

Through focus groups and individual interviews, data were gathered on the emotional, informational, and instrumental support needs of 22 immigrant Latina women. A thematic analysis revealed that participants who perceived to receive social support reported less psychological distress and better adjustment to breast cancer than those who did not perceive this support. Types and sources of support varied across survivorship stages.

Latina breast cancer survivors are not benefiting from advances in psychosocial interventions. Despite their greater breast cancer burden, there is a dearth of information about this population. This qualitative study examined the experiences of 18 immigrant Latina breast cancer survivors along the survivorship continuum, from diagnosis to long-term survivorship.

Limitations in the ability of rural Hispanics to access and utilize health care contribute to patterns of poor health and health disparity. A conceptual model of "vulnerability" guides this community-based participatory assessment project designed to explore rural Hispanics' perceived barriers to accessing and utilizing health care.

Hypertrophy and development of multiple follicular and luteal structures on AN ovaries were observed after ULO, while SO ovaries remained of normal size and appearance after ULO. The second experiment involving 11 ewes (five AN; six SO) aimed to clarify the mechanism by which AN following ULO-induced ovarian hypertrophy and increased follicle development.

Immunization against steroids, although a valuable tool, displays limits. We propose a straightforward method to suppress steroids from the peripheral circulation by using the liver to catabolize steroids, through an anastomosis of the ovary to the mesenteric vein.

Results: The intraoperative mortality and the overall mortality rates were respectively 21.4% and 57%.

We report the case of a 74 year-old woman presenting a rupture in the duodenum of pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysm treated with success by an aorto-mesenteric by-pass and ligature of gastroduodenal artery. The pancreaticoduodenal artery is an uncommon aneurysmal localization; surgical treatment of which is often difficult on account of the proximity of the pancreatic parenchyma and arteriography is essential to guide the surgical procedure.

We have evaluated 48 spontaneous ovarian cycles in 23 women by transabdominal Doppler ultrasound. A total of 1064 intraovarian flow velocity waveform recordings were obtained. The ultrasound assessment of follicular growth, and changes in the concentrations of urinary luteinizing hormone and serum progesterone were used to classify the cycles.

The authors report the case of the rupture of a cyst of a corpus luteum and they review the literature in order to identify the semiological signs and it highlight the difficulty of reaching a diagnosis by non-invasive methods. The treatment remains surgery, involving ablation of the corpus luteum.

The technique consists of resection of the pathologic carotid artery bifurcation followed by its total replacement with a bifurcated thin-wall polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) graft constructed by the surgeon. Prosthetic graft reconstruction of the carotid bifurcation (PGRCB) was performed in 21 patients (25 procedures) from November 1984 to May 1987.
