Objective: To identify trophoblastic cells retrieved from the cervix at a gestational age (GA) of 5-9 weeks by a noninvasive modality in fetuses.

Method: Transcervical cells (TCCs) were noninvasively extracted by a cytobrush using the Papanicolaou sampling method. TCCs were immunostained with antihuman leukocyte antigen (HLA)-G and anticytokeratin (CK)-7 antibodies to identify trophoblastic cells.

Aberrant expression of tripartite motif-containing protein 28 (TRIM28) has been demonstrated in several human cancers; however, its biological function and related mechanism in cervical cancer remain unclear. In this study, we compared TRIM28 expression between cervical cancer and adjacent normal tissues, and detected significant elevation in TRIM28 expression levels in the cervical cancer tissues. Moreover, TRIM28 overexpression promoted the proliferation, colony formation, and cell cycle progression of cervical cancer cell lines, as well as the growth of xenograft tumors in nude mice, whereas knockdown of TRIM28 had the opposite effects.

Objective: To investigate the change of aberrant methylation of p16, CDH, RASSF1A and TIMP3 in cervical carcinoma and their significance in cervical carcinoma.

Methods: Using the bisulfite-modification technique and methylation-specific PCR (MSP), we examined the aberrant promoter hypermethylation patterns of 4 tumor suppressor genes (p16, CDH1, RASSF1A, TIMP3) in 140 samples of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CINI, n = 40), CINII-III (n = 40), cervical carcinomas (CC, n = 40), and normal cervical tissue as a control group (n = 20).

Results: (1) Methylation was completely absent in control tissues.
