Background: Acupuncture is effective for reducing the symptoms of neck pain (NP). However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully elucidated. Based on evaluating the efficacy of two acupuncture prescriptions for treating NP, this study aims to investigate the potential central mechanism of acupuncture treatment for NP by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

Background: There are no effective preoperative diagnostic measures to predict the probability of left and right recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) lymph node (LN) metastasis using preoperative clinical data in patients undergoing thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy with cervical anastomosis.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 1,660 consecutive patients with thoracic esophageal cancer who underwent esophagectomy with cervical anastomosis at the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between January 2015 and December 2020.

Results: A total of 299 and 343 patients who underwent left (Cohort 1) and right (Cohort 2) RLN LN dissection were included in the final analyses.

Objective: The objective of the study was to compare the dose parameter and clinical efficacy of three-dimensional-printed template (3D-PT)-guided and traditional I seed implantation in treatment of gynecological tumors.

Materials And Methods: A total of 28 patients with gynecological tumors treated with radioactive seed implantation in Hebei General Hospital from January 2016 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Twelve patients (template group) were guided by 3D-PT and the remaining 16 patients (traditional group) were guided by computed tomography (CT) with traditional technique.

Purpose: Elderly people represent a growing stroke population with different pathophysiological states than younger. Whether intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is beneficial for elderly patients remains unclear. This study compared the efficacy and safety between elderly patients treated with MT alone and those treated with both IVT and MT.

miRNAs belong to small non-coding RNAs that are related to a number of complicated biological processes. Considerable studies have suggested that miRNAs are closely associated with many human diseases. In this study, we proposed a computational model based on Similarity Constrained Matrix Factorization for miRNA-Disease Association Prediction (SCMFMDA).

In the present study, we have identified an ω-transaminase (ω-TA) from from the genome database by using two ω-TA sequences (ATA117 Arrmut11 from KNK168 and amine transaminase from NIH2624) as templates in a BLASTP search and motif sequence alignment. The protein sequence of the ω-TA from (TA) shows 38% sequence identity to that of ATA117 Arrmut11. The gene sequence of TA was inserted into pRSF-Duet1 and functionally expressed in BL21(DE3).

To overcome nitrogen deficiency, legume roots establish symbiotic interactions with nitrogen-fixing rhizobia that are fostered in specialized organs (nodules). Similar to other organs, nodule formation is determined by a local maximum of the phytohormone auxin at the primordium site. However, how auxin regulates nodule development remains poorly understood.

Leading by cytotoxicity against HepG2 cells, bioactivity-guided fractionation of the EtOAc fraction from led to the isolation of 18 new guaianolide dimers, artematrolides A-R and lavandiolides A, B, C, H, and J. Eight compounds (, , , , , and -) were unambiguously confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, and the others were elucidated based on IR, UV, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR experiments, and comparison of the experimental and calculated ECD data. Structurally, all of them were [4 + 2] Diels-Alder adducts of two monomeric guaianolides.

Endoscopic middle ear surgery is a widely employed minimally invasive surgical technique to address middle ear and mastoid pathology. Bone drilling is the main technical challenge of endoscopic middle ear surgery. The accompanying video describes the detailed protocol of a constant-suction bone-drilling technique and the procedure of endaural exclusive endoscopic atticoantrotomy (retrograde mastoidectomy) using this technique.

In pancreatic cancer, the robust fibroinflammatory stroma contributes to immune suppression and renders tumors hypoxic, altering intratumoral metabolic pathways and leading to poor survival. One metabolic enzyme activated during hypoxia is lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA). As a result of its promiscuous activity under hypoxia, LDHA produces L-2 hydroxyglutarate (L-2HG), an epigenetic modifier, that regulates the tumor transcriptome.

The relationship between the progression of hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) and the gut microbiota is poorly understood, and an HBV-ACLF-related microbiome has yet to be identified. In this study alterations in the fecal microbiome of 91 patients with HBV-ACLF (109 stool samples), including a cohort of nine patients at different stages of HBV-ACLF, were determined by high-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing. The operational taxonomic units and Shannon indexes indicated that the diversity and abundance of the gut microbiome significantly decreased with the progression of HBV-ACLF (p <0.

Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been confirmed to have close relationship with various human complex diseases. The identification of disease-related miRNAs provides great insights into the underlying pathogenesis of diseases. However, it is still a big challenge to identify which miRNAs are related to diseases.

Background: Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) generally involves endotracheal intubation under general anesthesia. However, inevitably, this may cause intubation-related complications and prolong the postoperative recovery process. Gradually, non-intubated video-assisted thoracic surgery (NIVATS) is increasingly being utilized.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are mRNA suppressors that regulate a variety of cellular and physiological processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, triglyceride synthesis, fat formation, and lipolysis, by post-transcriptional processing. In previous studies, we isolated and sequenced miRNAs from mammary epithelial cells from Chinese Holstein cows with high and low milk fat percentages. MiR-485 was one of the significantly differentially expressed miRNAs that were identified.

Displays are basic building blocks of modern electronics. Integrating displays into textiles offers exciting opportunities for smart electronic textiles-the ultimate goal of wearable technology, poised to change the way in which we interact with electronic devices. Display textiles serve to bridge human-machine interactions, offering, for instance, a real-time communication tool for individuals with voice or speech difficulties.

In this study, we proposed a novel model that was Similarity Network Fusion and Inductive Matrix Completion for miRNA-Disease Association Prediction (SNFIMCMDA). We applied inductive matrix completion (IMC) method to acquire possible associations between miRNAs and diseases, which also could obtain corresponding correlation scores.

Keloids are scars characterized by abnormal proliferation of fibroblasts and overproduction of extracellular matrix components including collagen. We previously showed that LY2109761, a transforming growth factor- (TGF-) receptor inhibitor, suppressed the secretion of matrix components and slowed the proliferation of fibroblasts derived from human hypertrophic scar tissue. However, the exact mechanism underlying this effect remains unclear.
