Influence of Biaxial Strain and Interfacial Layer Growth on Ferroelectric Wake-Up and Phase Transition Fields in ZrO.

Investigations on fluorite-structured ferroelectric HfO/ZrO thin films are aiming to achieve high-performance films required for memory and computing technologies. These films exhibit excellent scalability and compatibility with the complementary metal-oxide semiconductor process used by semiconductor foundries, but stabilizing ferroelectric properties with a low operation voltage in the as-fabricated state of these films is a critical component for technology advancement. After removing the influence of interfacial layers, a linear correlation is observed between the biaxial strain and the electric field for transforming the nonferroelectric tetragonal to the ferroelectric orthorhombic phase in ZrO thin films.

[Hydatid torsion as a cause of acute scrotum--clinical, sonographic and anatomic aspects].

Out of 82 patients with acute swelling of the scrotum, 25 (30.5%) had hydatid torsion. Hydatid torsion was the second most common cause of acute scrotal swelling in the entire patient group.

Hypertrophy of the tensor tympani muscle presenting as a middle ear mass.

A wide variety of benign and malignant middle ear masses have been reported in the literature. We present here an example of a previously unreported type of lesion, a case of hypertrophy of striated muscle, probably the tensor tympani muscle, presenting as a middle ear mass in a 17-year-old male. Clinical evaluation revealed a marked conductive hearing loss and eustachian tube obstruction.

Vesicle formation during electro-fusion of mesophyll protoplasts of Kalanchoë daigremontiana.

Following electro-fusion of plant protoplasts the volume of the fused cell is the sum of the volumes of the parent cells. As shown for mesophyll protoplasts from leaves of Kalanchoë daigremontiana, the excess in membrane material arising from the reduction in membrane area is removed-at least to a larger extent - by the formation of vesicles which are visible in the light microscope. These vesicles, which may have been formed by the fusion of sub-microscopic vesicles, are observed in the contact zone of the fusing cells.

[Absorption and distribution of cytoplasmic organ lysates (conjunctisan A eye drops) following intraconjunctival application (author's transl)].

The absorption and transport pathways of Conjunctisan A were determined, and its mode of action clarified, by means of radioactive labeling. A dose of 0.5 ml of this drug, labeled with I131, was applied to the conjunctival sacs of rats and rabbits.

The absorption of the proteolytic enzyme bromelain was investigated in adult rats. Bromelain was labelled radioactively with 125-Iodine and intraduodenally applied. During the observation time of 6 hours blood- and lymphsamples were collected and their radioactivity measured.
