Gallium oxide (GaO), an ultrawide bandgap semiconductor, is an ideal material for solar-blind photodetectors, but challenges such as low responsivity and response speed persist. In this paper, one-dimensional (1D) GaO nanorods were designed to achieve high photodetection performance due to their effective light absorption and light field confinement. Through modulating source concentration, pH value, temperature, and reaction time, 1D β-GaO nanorods were controllably fabricated using a cost-effective hydrothermal method, followed by post-annealing.

Reconfigurable field-effect transistors (RFETs) offer notable benefits on electronic and optoelectronic logic circuits, surpassing the integration, flexibility, and cost-efficiency of conventional complementary metal-oxide semiconductor transistors. The low on/off current ratio of these transistors remains a considerable impediment in the practical application of RFETs. To overcome these limitations, a van der Waals heterojunction (vdWH) transistor composed of WSe/TaNiSe has been proposed.

In this Letter, the CHNHPbBr nanocrystals (NCs) are embedded into the interstices of the fluorine (polyvinyl fluoride/polyvinylidene fluoride, PVF/PVDF) matrix on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate to introduce new advantages, such as being flexible and waterproof, while maintaining the high optical performance of perovskites. The sample's photoluminescence (PL) spectra under 325 nm laser is a green emission peaked at 537 nm with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of about 21.2 nm and a fast PL decay time.

Infrared camouflage is an effective technique to avoid many kinds of target detection by detectors in the infrared band. For a high-temperature environment, thermal management of selective emission is crucial to dissipate heat in the mid-infrared non-atmospheric window (5-8 μm). However, it still remains challenges for balancing infrared camouflage and thermal management.

High-performance terahertz wave detectors at room temperature are still urgently required for a wide range of applications. The available technologies, however, are plagued by low sensitivity, narrow spectral bandwidth, complicated structure, and high noise equivalent power (NEP). Here, we have demonstrated a Weyl semimetal surface plasmon-enhanced high-performance terahertz wave detectors which are based on microdisk array deposited WTe nanofilm epitaxially grown on GaN substrate for room temperature operation.

Female ovaries degenerate about 20 years earlier than testes leading to reduced primordial follicle reserve and a reduction in oocyte quality. Here we found that bridge integrator 2 (BIN2) is enriched in mouse ovaries and oocytes and that global knockout of this protein improves both female fertility and oocyte quality. Quantitative ovarian proteomics and phosphoproteomics showed that Bin2 knockout led to a decrease in phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6 (p-RPS6), a component of the mammalian target of rapamycin pathway and greatly increased nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (NNT), the free-radical detoxifier.

Exogenous hydrogen sulfide (H S) protects kidneys from diabetic injuries in animal models. In order to explore the role of endogenous H S in diabetic nephropathy, we determined the renal H2S producing enzymes in vivo and in vitro. In diabetic mice, H S levels in blood and kidney were decreased while cystathionine β-synthase (CBS), mainly located in mouse renal proximal convoluted tubules (PCT), was reduced selectively.

Tripartite motif-containing 22 (TRIM22) has been documented to participate in numerous cellular activities during human diseases. However, whether TRIM22 is involved in the regulation of neuronal survival during the progression of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remains unknown. In the present study, treatment of HCN-2 cells with oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) markedly upregulated TRIM22 expression.

Controlling the lasing mode, emission direction, threshold, and quality factor of whispering-gallery mode lasing is important for practical applications such as optical interconnections, on-chip communications, trace detection, high-density storage, etc. In order to simultaneously control the mode and emission direction and to achieve a high-quality factor in a low-threshold whisper-gallery mode laser, such as a GaN floating microdisk, a novel fabrication design of a microdisk with a vertical slit is proposed. To demonstrate proof of concept, we experimentally measure whispering-gallery mode lasing spectra of microdisks with and without a slit.

Docetaxel-mediated chemotherapy is the first line therapy for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients, but its therapeutic benefit is limited by the development of resistance. Although Forkhead box protein M1 (FOXM1) has been implicated in prostate tumorigenesis and metastasis, its role in docetaxel resistance has not been studied. Here, we showed that FOXM1 expression was upregulated in the docetaxel resistant CRPC cell lines (PC3-DR and VCaP-DR) and knockdown of FOXM1 sensitized the cells to docetaxel both in vitro and in vivo.

  • The electrical and optical characteristics of micro-light emitting diodes (-LEDs) were measured, focusing on current-voltage, capacitance-voltage curves, and both photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) spectra.
  • Smaller -LEDs demonstrated a higher unit area emitting intensity compared to larger ones under identical conditions, attributed to improved internal quantum efficiency and extraction efficiency.
  • This approach can enhance the brightness of high-efficiency surface-emitting devices built on a GaN-on-silicon platform.

Placenta-specific 1 (Plac1) has been found to be essential for placentation, and abnormal Plac1 expression and distribution is highly correlated with preeclampsia and implantation failure; however, its function in mammalian oocytes has not been elucidated. Here, we report that Plac1 was more prominent in mouse oocytes and enriched at the membrane region throughout meiosis. On the one hand, Plac1 knockdown severely disrupted microvillus organization; however, on the other hand, Plac1 significantly decreased oocyte maturation and increased aneuploidy, consequently disrupting normal fertilization.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are promising candidates for flexible optoelectronic devices because of their special structures and excellent properties, but the low optical absorption of the ultrathin layers greatly limits the generation of photocarriers and restricts the performance. Here, we integrate all-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr nanosheets with MoS atomic layers and take the advantage of the large absorption coefficient and high quantum efficiency of the perovskites, to achieve excellent performance of the TMD-based photodetectors. Significantly, the interfacial charge transfer from the CsPbBr to the MoS layer has been evidenced by the observed photoluminescence quenching and shortened decay time of the hybrid MoS/CsPbBr.

ZP3 is a principal component of the zona pellucida (ZP) of mammalian oocytes and is essential for normal fertility, and knockout of ZP3 causes complete infertility. ZP3 promotes fertilization by recognizing sperm binding and activating the acrosome reaction; however, additional cellular roles for ZP3 in mammalian oocytes have not been yet reported. In the current study, we found that ZP3 was strongly expressed in the nucleus during prophase and gradually translocated to the ZP.

A novel supramolecular system comprising a complex of 9,9'-diphenyl-9,9'-2,2'-bifluorene-9,9'-diol (DPFOH) with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is presented as an attractive system for optical gain in the ultraviolet. The analogue compound 9,9'-diphenyl-9,9'-2,2'-bifluorene (DPFO8) without an -OH substituent was synthesized alongside DPFOH to confirm the importance of its chemical structure to the thin-film microstructure. A hydrogen-bonding interaction allows the molecule such as DPFOH and a combination of DPFOH and PMMA to have an excellent solution-processed high quality coating film.
