Bilateral chronic subdural hematoma (bCSDH) is a frequent condition commonly linked to the need for retreatment; however, the reason for this high retreatment rate remains unclear. The middle meningeal artery (MMA) was found to have a relationship with the occurrence and development of chronic subdural hematomas. This study examines a possible method to reduce bCSDH recurrence using bilateral MMA embolization combined with bilateral burr-hole drainage.

Traumatic brain injury is a common condition in neurosurgery. Traditional methods of treatment include conservative treatment and surgical evacuation using burr-holes or craniotomy; however, studies have reported problems such as high re-expansion rates after conservative treatment of epidural hematoma and high postoperative recurrence rates of subdural hematoma. Solutions to these problems are lacking, and research into new treatment methods is ongoing.

Motion tracking can provide an objective assessment for surgical skills and may aid in endoscopic neurosurgery. We developed a cost-effective system to study the feasibility of objectively distinguishing performance levels for operating an endoscope.
