Intensive attention is given to the morphology-controlled synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials because of their intrinsic shape-dependent properties. In this article, different dimensions (D) of copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (such as 0D-sphere, 1D-rod, 1D-belt, 2D-rolling pin sheets, 3D-octahedron, and 3D-throne) are prepared. The catalytic efficacy of these differently shaped CuO catalysts is compared for hydrogenation reactions under reducing agent-free conditions.

One of the global challenges for living things is to provide pollution and harmful microbes-free environment. In this study, magnetically retrievable spinel-structured manganese zinc ferrite (MnZnFeO) (MZF) was synthesized by a facile solvothermal method. Further, the MZF with different weight percentages (10 wt%, 50 wt%, and 80 wt%) were supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO).

Purpose: The choice of antibiotics for treatment of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) is increasing becoming limited due to co-expression of Metallo-beta-lactamases (MBL) along with other carbapenemases in these isolates. The study aimed to investigate the occurrence of CRE and to determine the in-vitro synergy and clinical outcomes of Ceftazidime-Avibactam and Aztreonam combination in CRE infections in adult Intensive Care Units (ICUs).

Methods: 79 CRE isolates recovered from adult ICUs during January to March 2023 were tested by O.

Background: Scleral fixation of intraocular lens (IOLs) is the most preferred technique for the management of aphakia and the techniques have evolved over the years. These methods have their advantages and disadvantages, however, the major concern being the position of the intraocular lens, its stability and complications. The final IOL position is the major determinant of the final visual acuity, and various imaging modalities have been used to quantify the IOL tilt.

The authors of the present research aimed to assess microplastics (MPs) contamination in the gills and gut of selected fishes from various aquatic zones and also to bring out the risks of the identified polymers. Accordingly, about 200 fish specimens of 10 different species were collected from the landing center at Parangipettai, southeast coast of India. The fishes were dissected to investigate MPs contamination in their gills and gut.

Article Synopsis
  • Fast and accurate detection of plant diseases is essential for increasing agricultural production, but traditional methods are often tedious and expensive.
  • This study uses hyperspectral imaging and machine learning, specifically Locality Preserving Discriminative Broad Learning (LPDBL), to identify various stages of powdery mildew disease in squash plants, utilizing data collected via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
  • The proposed method significantly improves disease detection accuracy compared to six other methods, successfully identifying infected plants at early, middle, and critical stages.

Daunting amounts of microplastics are present in surface waters worldwide. A main category of microplastics is synthetic microfibers, which originate from textiles. These microplastics are generated and released in laundering and are discharged by wastewater treatment plants or enter surface waters from other sources.

Overlapping geographical occurrence, history of traditional use, confusion in species identification, and morphological resemblances among various species are some considerations that necessitate the importance of qualitative analysis for efficient quality control and safer botanical products. This paper provides detailed morpho-anatomies of the leaves and stems of , and , and stems of . Microscopy studies of the selected species revealed key diagnostic features that can help distinguish the closely related species of as well as to detect any adulteration or substitution in the raw materials.

Detection of a pulmonary fissure in lungs is difficult due to its anatomical changeability among humans and it is essential in the clinical environment for accurate localizing and treating the lung abnormalities on a lobe level in human lungs. In this work, an algorithmic approach is proposed to detect the lung oblique fissures from lung computed tomography (CT) images. In the preprocessing module of our approach, the lung structures are enhanced using morphological operation and lung images are de-noised using Wiener filter.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the yield of retinal images obtained in a rural diabetes eye care model.

Methods: An analysis of a sample of nonmydriatic fundus photography (NMFP) of posterior segment ophthalmic images, obtained by an indigenous equipment (3 nethra-Forus Royal), was done in a district-wide rural diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening program; a trained optometrist did the initial image grading. DR and diabetic macular edema (DME) were classified based on international DR and DME severity scale.

A new class of pyridyl benzimdazole based Ru complex decorated polyaniline assembly (PANI-Ru) was covalently grafted onto reduced graphene oxide sheets (rGO) via covalent functionalization approach. The covalent attachment of PANI-Ru with rGO was confirmed from XPS analysis and Raman spectroscopy. The chemical bonding between PANI-Ru and rGO induced the electron transfer from Ru complex to rGO via backbone of the conjugated PANI chain.

A recyclable heterogeneous catalyst has been successfully developed for application in a Fenton-type advanced oxidation process without adding external HO. LaFeO was prepared from Fe(NO)·9HO and La(NO)·6HO by a simple sol-gel method and its catalytic efficiency was evaluated for mineralization of 4-chlorophenol using a Fenton-like process. The mineralization process was carried out under ultrasonication in presence of heterogeneous LaFeO catalyst with HO that was produced during ultrasonication.

Gold nanoparticles supported on magnesium oxide nanorods (Au-MgO) have been synthesised by a solution based chemical reduction method. Au-MgO nanorods were found to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for oxidation of alcohols with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous medium at room temperature. To find out the best reaction conditions for oxidation, optimization of catalyst quantity, solvent, mole equivalence of hydrogen peroxide were carried out.

Introduction: Established non-unions pose a real nightmare for even the most accomplished surgeon. The variations in anatomy due to extensive fibrous tissue growth, soft tissue contractures around the fracture site and bony alterations like smoothening and sclerosis of the fracture ends must each be addressed as a whole if good outcome is to be expected.

Case Series: Here we present a series of 11 patients who had bimalleolar fracture of the ankle following which they had native splinting.

Acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) is a rare epithelial malignant neoplasm of salivary glands affecting predominantly the female population. Unusual occurrences of this neoplasm are reported in hard palate, maxillary sinuses, lip, etc. [1] We report one such case where a submandibular swelling that is provisionally diagnosed as pleomorphic adenoma due to its clinical and radiological findings, turned out to be ACC on histopathological evaluation.

Ceria supported gold nanoparticles (Au-CeO2 NPs) were prepared by a simple deposition-precipitation method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman analysis indicated the formation of gold nanoparticles over phase pure cerianite ceria support. The presence of gold nanoparticles was well identified by UV-DRS study.

Background: Glaucoma is a common causes of blindness. The associated elevation in intra ocular pressure leads to progressive degeneration of the optic nerve and resultant structural changes with functional failure of the visual field. Since, glaucoma is asymptomatic in the early stages and the associated vision loss is irreparable, its early detection and timely medical treatment is essential to prevent further visual damage.
