To better explore the relationship between allergens, the microbial community, and the indoor living environment, we sampled the bedrooms of 65 homes in the Chicago area using 23the patient-friendly Inspirotec electrokinetic air sampling device, which collects airborne particles for characterization of both allergens and microbial DNA. The sampling device captured sufficient microbial material to enable 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing data to be generated for every sample in the study.

Banded patterns consisting of alternating bare soil and dense vegetation have been observed in water-limited ecosystems across the globe, often appearing along gently sloped terrain with the stripes aligned transverse to the elevation gradient. In many cases, these vegetation bands are arced, with field observations suggesting a link between the orientation of arcing relative to the grade and the curvature of the underlying terrain. Laparoscopic retrieval of a foreign body (broken surgical knife) from retroperitoneal space: An interesting case.

We present a rare and interesting case, of a retrieval of a broken surgical knife blade, from the retroperitoneal space, through laparoscopic approach by a gynecology endoscopist. A 40-year-oId man underwent open lumbar discectomy surgery, when the surgical knife blade inadvertently broke, and was retained in the disc space. The broken blade could not be removed during the initial surgery.
