Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) contributes significantly to cancer mortalities worldwide. The association between a specific single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) located within the SOCS3 gene as well as the likelihood of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression in individuals with chronic hepatitis C virus (CHC) was found to be significant. We aimed to study SOCS3 gene polymorphisms at rs4969168 and rs4969170and HCC susceptibility in individuals with CHC.
