Purpose: The aim of this study is to characterize lung cancer treatment clinical trials in Latin America before (January 2001-December 2011) and after (January 2012-December 2021) the organization of major Latin American oncology cooperative groups.

The Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), by means of sterile male releases of (Loew), coupled with Augmentative Biological Control (ABC), by releasing the parasitoid (Ashmead), was evaluated in a commercial mango production area for one year. The obtained results were compared with mean fruit fly population values from two previous years without the combined use of both techniques. The treatments were: SIT + ABC, SIT, ABC, and Control, and each treatment was established in blocks of 5000 Ha separated by distances of 5-10 km.

Genomic Instability (GI) is a transversal phenomenon shared by several tumor types that provide both prognostic and predictive information. In the context of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), response to DNA-damaging agents such as platinum-based and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) has been closely linked to deficiencies in the DNA repair machinery by homologous recombination repair (HRR) and GI. Background: This database gathers 10,721 specimens, belonging to 2,578 species from the Chilean vascular flora (angiosperms, gymnosperms and pteridophytes) deposited in the Herbarium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile. The PUCV botanical collection was started by the renowned botanist Otto Zöllner and represents a major natural historical legacy for central Chile, with decades of information represented through preserved specimens. This collection is currently deposited in the Curauma campus of the PUCV.

The current study involved exposing adult F0 Gulf killifish (Fundulus grandis) to Macondo-252 oil for 36 to 44 days and assessing the effects of this oiling on the swimming performance and morphology in two generations of progeny reared in clean water. Following exposure to oil, the F0 fish were used as broodstock to generate four lineages of F1 fish using a full-matrix mating design derived from the gametes of clean and oil-exposed parents. Later, the four lineages of F1 fish were used as broodstock to create an F2 generation of the same four lineages.

The Rizoma database was built by reviewing multiple data sources on the uses of native plants and integrating phytogeographic and ecological aspects of plant species. We report on a major update to the animal rDNA loci database, which now contains cytogenetic information for 45S and 5S rDNA loci in more than 2600 and 1000 species, respectively.The data analyses show the following: (i) A high variability in 5S and 45S loci numbers, with both showing 50-fold or higher variability. However, karyotypes with an extremely high number of loci were rare, and medians generally converged to two 5S sites and two 45S rDNA sites per diploid genome.

The flow stress behaviour of a directionally solidified nickel-base superalloy, MAR-M247, is presented through the combination of experiments and crystal-plasticity simulations. The experimental campaign encompassed quasi-static and dynamic testing in the parallel and perpendicular orientation with respect to the columnar grains. The function of the tomato K, Na/H antiporter LeNHX4 has been analyzed using 35S-driven gene construct for overexpressing a histagged LeNHX4 protein in Solanum lycopersicum L. Compared to wild-type plants, the expression of LeNHX4 was enhanced in most of plants transformed with a gene construct for LeNHX4 overexpression although some plants showed a decreased LeNHX4 expression. Overexpression of LeNHX4 was associated to an increased fruit size while silencing of this gene was related to a decreased fruit size.

Following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, approximately 7 million liters of the dispersant Corexit 9500A were released to promote oil biodegradation by breaking up surface oil slick formation. This process is accomplished via amphipathic anionic surfactants within dispersants that facilitate the mixing of aqueous and lipid phases. However, the amphipathicity of Corexit may also cause it to interact with biological membranes like the gill, impairing gill function and ultimately disrupting physiological processes mediated by it, such as osmoregulation.

In order to complete its nutritional information, this study determined the chemical and physicochemical parameters and fatty acid, amino acid and mineral contents in seven primal cuts from veal carcasses (shoulder clod (SC), inside round (IR), eye of round (ER), bottom round (BR), heel of round (HR), knuckle (KK) and tenderloin (TL)).

Results: The intramuscular fat content was higher and the cholesterol content was lower in TL than in the other cuts.

Physicochemical parameters (pH, colour and texture), proximate composition (moisture, protein, lipid and ash content), amino acid content, and taste profile of beef patties elaborated with soy (control), pulses (pea, lentil and bean) and microalgal ( and ) proteins were assessed. The pH, colour, ash content, total, essential and non-essential amino acids and amino acid content were significantly different among the beef patties studied. In this regard, beef patties prepared with pea protein presented the highest values for pH; whereas beef patties manufactured with pea also showed the highest values for lightness and patties elaborated with bean the highest values for redness.
