We assessed mpox vaccine communication and sexual behavior among U.S. MSM during the 2022 mpox outbreak.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIssues of workplace violence (WPV) in health care have garnered increasing attention due to the impact on the health care worker's well-being and retention. Yet, our understanding of whether and how WPV rates vary between health care facilities and occupations is limited, particularly information on growth over time. This information is needed to develop and target policies and interventions toward health care workers and settings most at risk.

To increase Ct and Ng testing, several countries have implemented specimen self-collection outside a clinical setting. While specimen self-collection at home is highly acceptable to patients and as accurate as specimens collected by healthcare providers, this strategy is new or not being used in some countries.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the physical colocation of pharmacists with primary care providers (PCPs) and examine predictors associated with colocation.
Research Design: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study of pharmacists and PCPs with individual National Provider Identifiers in the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System's database.
Background: In 2015, the World Health Organization recommended that all people living with HIV begin antiretroviral treatment (ART) regardless of immune status, a policy known as 'Treat-All to end AIDS', commonly referred to as Treat-All. Almost all low- and middle-income countries adopted this policy by 2019. This study describes how linkage to treatment of newly diagnosed persons changed between 2015 and 2018 and how complementary policies may have similarly increased linkage for 13 African countries.

Available data, including survey-based infection prevalence and case reports, have limitations as proxies for infection incidence. We therefore developed a novel method for estimating chlamydial incidence.

This study assessed rates of colocation between waivered prescribers and behavioral health clinicians across the United States to understand if rates varied by provider type and geographic indicators.
Methods: Data from the DEA-Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 provider list as of March 2022 and the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System's National Provider Identifier database were gathered, cleaned, and formatted in Stata.
Introduction Colonoscopic polypectomy is a well-established screening and surveillance modality for malignant colorectal polyps. Following the detection of a malignant polyp, patients are either put on endoscopic surveillance or planned for a surgical procedure. We studied the outcome of colonoscopic excision of malignant polyps and their recurrence rates.

Methods: The study sample comprised 67 rural sites training residents in 40 counties in 24 US states. Descriptive statistics were used to describe RRPD programs and logistic regression to predict the probability of a county being an RRPD site as a function of population, primary care physicians (PCP) per 10,000 population, and the social vulnerability index (SVI) compared to a control sample of nonmetro counties without RRPD sites.
Shortages of critical medical devices during the COVID-19 pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in device markets. From 2010 to 2019 there were approximately five shortages annually, but that number increased fourfold in the first half of 2020. Although most 2020 shortages were triggered by the pandemic, pre-2020 shortages stemmed from regulatory and enforcement actions related to product quality and manufacturing.

We aim to quantify the prognostic impact of various clinical and pathological markers on survival and recurrence of leiomyosarcomas.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review as per PRISMA protocol.
Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell lymphoma that usually localizes to serous body cavities to subsequently form effusions in the absence of a discrete mass. Although some tumors can develop in extracavitary locations, the areas most often affected include the peritoneum, pleural space, and the pericardium. PEL is associated with the presence of human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8), also called the Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), with some variability in transformation potential suggested by frequent coinfection with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) (~80%), although the nature of the oncogenesis is unclear.

The rapid transmission dynamics and high morbidity and mortality that occur in SNFs emphasize the need for early detection of cases. We hypothesized that residents of SNFs infected with SARS-CoV-2 would demonstrate an acute change in either temperature or oxygen saturation (SpO ) prior to symptom onset.

Objective: To learn more about women's views on screening for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) during healthcare visits in pregnancy.
Design: Mixed methods with an online survey.
Sample: A convenience sample of 154 women with a history of one or more pregnancies was recruited through public health department social media pages in one predominantly rural region of a Midwest state.
Objective: To evaluate the prescribing practices and opioid consumption in an ambulatory setting to inform the development of evidence-based guidelines.
Design: A prospective study of adults undergoing outpatient open and laparoscopic surgeries over 3 months. One week after discharge, a telephonic interview quantified the number of opioids prescribed and consumed, degree of pain control and satisfaction, and whether additional pain medication was requested.
