The use of physiotherapy (PT) in the hospital emergency department (ED) has shown positive results including improvements in patient waiting time, treatment initiation, discharge type, patient outcomes, safety and acceptability of the intervention by medical staffs. These findings originate from studies that primarily focus on musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. Despite a significant number of people visiting the ED, there is a shortage of literature evaluating PT in the ED for elderly populations.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the enzymatic degradation kinetics of 16 commercially available HA-based fillers, representing 6 manufacturing technologies.
Methods: In this nonclinical study, a recently developed in vitro multidose hyaluronidase administration protocol was used to induce degradation of HA-based fillers, enabling real-time evaluation of viscoelastic properties under near-static conditions.
Minimally invasive hyaluronan (HA) tissue fillers are routinely employed to provide tissue projection and correct age-related skin depressions. HA fillers can advantageously be degraded by hyaluronidase (HAase) administration in case of adverse events. However, clear guidelines regarding the optimal dosage and mode of administration of HAase are missing, leaving a scientific gap for practitioners in their daily practice.

The aim of this work was to validate this strategy by identifying contaminants and confirming disposal based on the clearance level twice-the-background was within expected time frames.
Methods: We conducted a prospective series of measurements of radioactive waste associated with the first 65 treatments administered.
Aim: The increasing use of oral anticancer agents over the past years has necessitated changes in monitoring toxicities to ensure patients' adherence and tolerance at home. The aim of this study was to describe nurses' interventions and medical changes after alerts triggered by a web-based platform designed to support the management of oral anticancer agents-related toxicities.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients undergoing oral anticancer agents in a cancer center from September 2018 to September 2019 (excluding hormonal therapy).
Background: Hyaluronic acid-based filler injections are now well-established aesthetic procedures for the correction of skin tissue defects and volume loss. Filler injections are becoming increasingly popular, with a growing number of injections performed each year. Although classified as a minimally invasive procedure, the introduction of a needle or a canula may remain painful for the patient.

Methods: We studied incubation media (Plasma media [MP] or dry media [MS]), platelet concentration [NP], mean platelet volume [VPM], hemoglobin level and pathology associated with AITP.
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the contouring methods on dose metrics and their predictive value on tumor control and survival, in both situations of pre-treatment and post-treatment dosimetry, for patients with advanced HCC treated with SIRT.
Methods: Forty-eight patients who underwent SIRT between 2012 and 2020 were retrospectively included in this study. Target volumes were delineated using two methods: MRI-based contours manually drawn by a radiologist and then registered on SPECT/CT and PET/CT via deformable registration (Pre-C and Post-C), Tc-MAA-SPECT and Y-microspheres-PET 10% threshold contouring (Pre-C and Post-C).
Unlabelled: The aims of this study were to assess the dependence of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) on age and gender and to produce reference data for the interpretation of Cr-EDTA GFR measurements in adults.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of 120 live kidney donors (75 females, 45 males). GFR was evaluated from Cr-EDTA plasma clearance using blood samples taken at 3, 4 and 5 hours.
Background: Crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA)-based soft tissue fillers possess unique viscoelastic properties intended to match specific product indications. Manufacturing has an impact on HA chain integrity and on filler properties.
Objective: This study introduces 2 new rheological parameters to evaluate the macroscopic characteristics of fillers.
Vascular dysfunction is an essential element found in many cardiovascular pathologies and in pathologies that have a cardiovascular impact such as chronic kidney disease (CKD). Alteration of vasomotricity is due to an imbalance between the production of relaxing and contracting factors. In addition to becoming a determining factor in pathophysiological alterations, vascular dysfunction constitutes the first step in the development of atherosclerosis plaques or vascular calcifications.

Ten patients had simultaneous measurements of RCV-Tc and RCV-Cr. Elution of Tc-99m from red blood cells was 2.

Methods: Ophthalmological, pediatric records and genetic analyses of thrombophilia-associated variants were retrospectively reviewed in four children diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion. Genetic screening, including Factor XII, platelet glycoprotein (GP) IIIa PlA1/A2 (rs5918), and GPIa/IIa C807T (rs1126643) and G873A (rs1062535) mutations, was performed by PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing of PCR products.
Background: Bone and joint infection, mainly caused by Staphylococcus aureus, is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, characterized by severe inflammation and progressive bone destruction. Studies mostly focused on the interaction between S. aureus and osteoblasts, the bone matrix-forming cells, while interactions between S.

Furthermore ERRα negatively regulates the commitment of mesenchymal cells to the osteoblast lineage ex vivo as well as later steps of osteoblast maturation. We searched to determine whether the activities of ERRα on osteoblast maturation are responsible for one or both types of in vivo induced bone loss.

MV vaccine strains use CD46 or signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM) as receptor for cell entry. A panel of H protein mutants derived from vaccine strain or wild-type MVs that lost or gained CD46 or SLAM receptor usage were investigated for their ability to mediate gene transfer into unstimulated T lymphocytes.

Current treatments for osteoporosis relying on hormone replacement therapies are suspected to have an association with increased breast cancer risk, highlighting the need for identifying new potential targets in bone. Recent data suggest that the estrogen-related receptor (ERR)α, an orphan nuclear receptor, represses osteoblast differentiation, and that its deletion in knockout mouse models results in increased mineral density.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: ERRalpha is an orphan member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily, which acts as a transcription factor and is involved in various metabolic processes. ERRalpha is also highly expressed in ossification zones during mouse development as well as in human bones and cell lines. Previous data have shown that this receptor up-modulates the expression of osteopontin, which acts as an inhibitor of bone mineralization and whose absence results in resistance to ovariectomy-induced bone loss.

We have previously demonstrated that enzymatically tailored plant pectins are promising nanocoatings for biomaterials. This study investigates whether a coating of modified hairy region (rhamnogalacturonan-I) from apple pectin (MHR-alpha) which has anti-adhesive properties can inhibit the generation of inflammatory mediators by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated macrophages.

Five structurally distinct pectic polysaccharides (modified hairy regions (MHRs)) were obtained by enzymatic liquefaction of apple (MHR-B, MHR-A and MHR-alpha), carrot (MHR-C) and potato (MHR-P) cells. Polystyrene (PS) Petri dishes, aminated by a plasma deposition process, were surface modified by the covalent linking of the MHRs.

Rabbit osteoclasts were cultured on bovine cortical bone slices in the presence of water-soluble molecules extracted from nacre of the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera. Osteoclast resorption activity was determined by quantification of the resorption surface area on bovine bone slices.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteoclast activity was studied on nacre, the mother of pearl (MOP) in order to assess the plasticity of bone resorbing cells and their capacity to adapt to a biomineralized material with a different organic and mineral composition from that of its natural substrate, bone. Pure MOP, a natural biomineralized CaCO(3) material, was obtained from Pinctada oyster shell. When implanted in the living system, nacre has proven to be a sustainable bone grafting material although a limited surface degradation process.
