Introduction: Vitamin D is involved in the regulatory mechanisms of ovarian function and is frequently low in PCOS patients. Since obesity and hyperinsulinemic state negatively influenced vitamin D levels, therefore, we evaluated the production of vitamin D at the ovarian level only in lean and normoinsulinemic PCOS subjects. Basal, GnRH analogue-induced ovarian production of 25OH-vitamin D (VitD) and a direct sampling at ovarian vein level were investigated.

Despite the development of complex fertilization techniques, only one-third of these procedures are successful. New lab-on-a-chip systems that focus on spermatozoa selection require a better understanding of sperm behavior under ultra-confined conditions in order to improve outcomes.

Human sperm samples are heterogeneous in their ability to capacitate themselves, which leads to variability between samples from the same or different donors, and even along the seasons. Here we studied sperm variation in the capacitation state according to the ability of capacitated spermatozoa to acrosome react upon stimulation (% ARi) and to be recruited by chemotaxis (% Chex).

The Professional Competencies ToolKit (ProComp ToolKit) gives medical students a framework on which to build these early experiences and reflect on issues related to professionalism as each patient encounter unfolds.
Methods: The ProComp ToolKit is a set of 28 flash cards, grouped within six domains of professional competency.
Smoke from wood-fueled fires is one of the most common hazards encountered by firefighters worldwide. Wood smoke is complex in nature and contains numerous compounds, including methoxyphenols (MPs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), some of which are carcinogenic. Chronic exposure to wood smoke can lead to adverse health outcomes, including respiratory infections, impaired lung function, cardiac infarctions, and cancers.

The mechanisms involved in this dysfunction remains still debated, therefore we evaluated the role of androgen, insulin and body weight on the serum VitD levels in women with or without PCOS. Eighty one patients 18-42 yrs old were studied into "SUMMER" and "WINTER" seasonal period: thirty seven PCOS, seventeen no-ovarian hyperandrogenic (noPCOS), twelve functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA) and finally fifteen healthy (Con).

Aim of the present multicenter study was to investigate attitudes and determinants associated with acceptance of influenza vaccination among Italian MRs. A survey was performed in 2012 on MRs attending post-graduate schools of 18 Italian Universities.
