This study was conducted to determine if the decreased MP supply predicted by the NRC (2001) when canola meal (CM) substitutes soybean meal (SBM) was supported by direct measurement of net portal absorption of AA or energy-yielding nutrients, plus the effect of the type of forage in CM-based rations. Nine Holstein cows with indwelling catheters in splanchnic blood vessels, 8 also with a ruminal cannula, were used to examine the effects of protein source in corn silage-based diets, comparing SBM versus CM, and forage source in CM-based diets, comparing corn versus grass silage. Endothelial cells (ECs) have essential roles in cardiac tissue repair after myocardial infarction (MI). To establish stage-specific and long-term effects of the ischemic injury on cardiac ECs, we analyzed their transcriptome at landmark time points after MI in mice. We found that early EC response at Day 2 post-MI centered on metabolic changes, acquisition of proinflammatory phenotypes, initiation of the S phase of cell cycle, and activation of stress-response pathways, followed by progression to mitosis (M/G2 phase) and acquisition of proangiogenic and mesenchymal properties during scar formation at Day 7.

We report the dose rate dependence of radiation chemical yields (G value) of water radiolysis products under clinical energy protons (230 MeV) to understand mechanisms of the FLASH radiotherapy performed at ultra-high dose rate (>40 Gy/s). The G value of 7-hydoroxy-coumarin-3-carboxylic acid (7OH-C3CA) produced by reactions of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid (C3CA) with OH radicals and oxygen is evaluated by fluorescence method. Also, those of hydrated electrons and hydrogen peroxide are derived by absorption method using Saltzman and Ghomley techniques, respectively.

Cancer cells often overexpress CD47, which triggers the inhibitory receptor SIRPα expressed on macrophages, to elude phagocytosis and antitumor immunity. Pharmacological blockade of CD47 or SIRPα is showing promise as anticancer therapy, although CD47 blockade has been associated with hematological toxicities that may reflect its broad expression pattern on normal cells.
