The advent of the commercial web has heightened the significance of these divides, as the first-level digital divide concerns access to the internet, while the second-level digital divide pertains to the ability to use technology proficiently.

The implementation of Video Assistant Referees (VARs) in 2018 has had a significant impact on the multi-billion-dollar soccer industry. As most popular and watched sport globally, soccer's financial stakes are high, with clubs, leagues, broadcasters, sponsors, and fans heavily invested in the game. The ongoing debate surrounding the VAR system brings to light the intricate balance between preserving the authenticity of football (soccer) and harnessing technology to improve accuracy.

The surprising role of marital status on sport second-screening: demographic influences during the 2022 world cup viewing in Israel.

To better understand what characterizes those who use a second screen while watching sport, the study examine a variety of demographic factors influencing browsing device trends before, during ("second screen"), and after sports games. It does so by utilizing survey data from Israeli viewers of the 2022 World Cup using a convenience sample ( = 242). In line with our hypotheses, those with higher education and higher reported income were more likely to browse devices for information around and during games.

Functional technological applications have become an integral part of our lives changing our patterns of reasoning and behavior. The current study examines whether, how and why use of WAZE app, a popular GPS-based navigation application, demonstrate behaviors and patterns which resemble those of technological dependency. We conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with 50 WAZE users.

Stern has endeavored to make the NBA a consumer-friendly and marketable league by implementing sanctions on physical violence. Deconstructing celebratory acts following goal scoring among elite professional football players.

Goal celebration in sport is mostly spontaneous and is manifested via vocal expressions and bodily gestures aimed at communicating emotions. The aim of this study is to deconstruct the celebratory acts among elite professional football players in the European Champions League following scoring a goal, and to capture the multiple acts and functions of the celebrations. In examining the 2018/19 season of the European Champions League tournament, we draw attention to the players' celebrations and their corresponding social and individual functions.

Choking or Delivering Under Pressure? The Case of Elimination Games in NBA Playoffs.

Neoclassical economic theories foretell that individuals exert the most effort, and consequently produce their best performances, when the net returns to effort are highest. We scanned through 33 NBA seasons and analyzed 1930 playoffs games in order to test this prediction. Analysis of win probabilities in games where one of the two teams faces elimination from the playoffs, demonstrated that the threat of severe losses didn't lead to elevated level of performance.

Background: An increasing number of countries mandate pre-participation ECG screening of athletes for the prevention of sudden death. However, the evidence showing that such a strategy actually reduces the risk of sudden death in athletes is limited.

The absence of physical activity is an important factor affecting illness, mortality and high costs of medical treatment in the western world. The advances in technology in the last couple of decades led to a more passive lifestyle, thereby affecting population health. Although the number of Israelis declaring regular participation in physical activity is rising, their numbers are lower in comparison to percentages in the western world.

Environmental and genetic factors of hypertension in a biracial Beduin population.

This study attempts to understand the various factors involved in the pathophysiology of hypertension in black Beduins. Parameters known to differentiate US black from white hypertensives were examined. Sixty Beduin families (thirty families each of black and white, total of 205 subjects) were evaluated for environmental risk factors: a traditional nomad shepherd life-style compared with working in a city, living in tents or in western style housing and dietary habits related to cardiovascular risk factors.
