Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic began in India in 2020. Despite successful vaccination, cases again started increasing from mid-December 2021. Therefore, this study was undertaken to find out the clinico-epidemiological characteristics and effectiveness of vaccination in the household transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in and around Pune.

Lactic Acid Bacteria in the Management of Oily Spot Disease of Pomegranate.

The bacterial pathogen of oily spot disease, a major threat to pomegranate growers, was isolated from infected plant parts of pomegranate collected from orchards in Maharashtra, India. The pathogen was identified as Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae (Xap) following phenotypic and molecular characterization by 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Changing patterns of Oral & Maxillofacial injuries before and during COVID-19 pandemic: A retrospective study.

Introduction: Oral and maxillofacial injuries can be defined as injuries involving soft and hard tissue structures of the facial region and oral cavity, including the teeth and vital structures of the head and neck area as a result of trauma The maxillofacial injuries are multifactorial and vary from one country to another and even from region to region. Despite, societal restrictions imposed by the government in the form of lockdowns and curfews, patients still experienced trauma and required significant healthcare services for management.

Methods: Patients of either gender reporting to the emergency department of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital with maxillofacial injuries, attended by residents of OMFS from October 2019 to August 2020 were included in the retrospective study.

Esophagobronchial fistulae: Diagnosis by MDCT with oral contrast swallow examination of a benign and a malignant cause.

We report two cases of esophagobronchial fistulae diagnosed by Multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) oral contrast swallow examination. It is helpful to supplement the CT study with an oral contrast swallow as it aids in confirmation of a suspected fistula and also demonstrates the fistula tract better. We present the clinical details and the imaging findings on MDCT of two cases of esophagobronchial fistulae - one secondary to chronic chest tuberculosis and the other secondary to a squamous cell carcinoma of the upper esophagus - followed by discussion of the etiology, pathogenesis, and imaging of these fistulae.

BVPaP-3, a T7-like lytic phage of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: its isolation and characterisation.

The increasing emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has produced a growing interest among scientists in bacteriophages as alternative antimicrobial agents. This article reports a lytic phage against an antibiotic-resistant strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
