Investigating the structure and etiology of temperament is key to understanding how children interact with the world (Kagan, 1994). Although these topics have yielded an abundance of research, fewer studies have employed observational data during middle childhood, when unique environmental challenges could influence temperament development. To address this gap, Israeli twin children were observed at Age 6.

Cognitive Control Moderates Associations Between Domains of Temperamental Reactivity and Preschoolers' Social Behaviors.

Temperamental characteristics and emerging cognitive control are meaningful predictors of children's development of adaptive and maladaptive social behaviors during the preschool period. However, knowledge of the interplay of these pathways, when examined concurrently to highlight their individual contributions, is limited. Using a cross-sectional sample of 3-year-old children, we examined parent-reported discrete traits of negative (anger, fear, sadness, and shyness) and positive (low- and high-intensity pleasure) temperamental reactivity as predictors of children's prosociality and physical aggression.

The Impact of Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Learning on Nursing Students' Ethical Decision-making and Clinical Reasoning in Pediatric Care: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

The integration of artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT into educational frameworks marks a pivotal transformation in teaching. This quasi-experimental study, conducted in September 2023, aimed to evaluate the effects of artificial intelligence-assisted learning on nursing students' ethical decision-making and clinical reasoning. A total of 99 nursing students enrolled in a pediatric nursing course were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group that utilized ChatGPT and a control group that used traditional textbooks.

Implementation of Continuous Capnography Protocol in a Postanesthesia Care Unit for Adult Patients at High-risk of Postoperative Respiratory Depression.

Purpose: This project aimed to implement a continuous capnography protocol in the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) for postoperative adult patients who are at high risk for respiratory failure.

Design: A preintervention and postintervention quality improvement design with retrospective chart reviews evaluated patient demographics (age, weight, body mass index [BMI], perioperative fluid intake and output, use of intraoperative positive-end expiratory pressure), length of surgery, average length of PACU stay, incidence of respiratory events, and adherence to a PACU capnography protocol.

Feasibility and acceptability of measuring positivity resonance in nurse-patient telehealth videoconferencing visits: A mixed-methods observational study.

Aim: To investigate the feasibility and acceptability of the training process, procedures, measures and recruitment strategies necessary for a future investigation to test the reliability and validity of using positivity resonance measures in health care encounters.

Background: Although the measurement of positivity resonance is promising, and non-participant observation is considered effective, their approaches to studying nurse-patient relationships have not been fully explored.

Nurses, positioned at the forefront of patient care, play a pivotal role in utilizing AI to foster a more efficient and equitable health-care system. However, to fulfil this role, nurses will require education that prepares them with the necessary skills and knowledge for the effective and ethical application of AI.

Within our Solar System, giant planets have auroral emission with signatures across the electromagnetic spectrum including infrared emission of H and methane. Isolated brown dwarfs with auroral signatures in the radio have been searched for corresponding infrared features, but only null detections have been reported.

Internet-Based Interventions for Preventing Premature Birth Among Pregnant Women: Systematic Review.

Background: Premature birth rates have slightly increased globally, making its prevention critical for both short-term and long-term health outcomes. Various interventions have been developed in response to the multifaceted risk factors for premature birth, including internet-based programs. These programs offer accessibility and enhanced engagement; however, their overall efficacy in preventing premature births requires thorough evaluation.

pADP-ribosylation regulates the cytoplasmic localization, cleavage, and pro-apoptotic function of HuR.

HuR (ElavL1) is one of the main post-transcriptional regulators that determines cell fate. Although the role of HuR in apoptosis is well established, the post-translational modifications that govern this function remain elusive. In this study, we show that PARP1/2-mediated poly(ADP)-ribosylation (PARylation) is instrumental in the pro-apoptotic function of HuR.

PARP-1 over-activation results in cell death via excessive PAR generation in different cell types, including neurons following brain ischemia. Glycolysis, mitochondrial function, and redox balance are key cellular processes altered in brain ischemia. Studies show that PAR generated after PARP-1 over-activation can bind hexokinase-1 (HK-1) and result in glycolytic defects and subsequent mitochondrial dysfunction.

Purpose: To review patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and survivorship in patients undergoing osteochondral autograft or allograft transplantation (OAT) of the femoral head.

Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Center for Register of Controlled Trials, and Scopus databases were searched in November 2022 with an updated search extending to December 2023 using criteria from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and the following keywords: (hip OR femoral head) AND (mosaicplasty OR osteochondral allograft OR osteochondral autograft OR osteochondral lesion). Articles were included if they evaluated postoperative PROs in patients who underwent OAT of the femoral head and had a study size of 5 or more hips (n ≥ 5).

Although PARylation-inhibition based therapies are considered as an avenue to combat debilitating diseases such as cancer and myopathies, the role of this modification in physiological processes such as cell differentiation remains unclear. Here, we show that Tankyrase1 (TNKS1), a PARylating ART, plays a major role in myogenesis, a vital process known to drive muscle fiber formation and regeneration.

PubMed, Cochrane Trials, and Scopus were queried in October 2022 using the criteria established in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses.

Comparative cost analysis of endovascular and open approaches for elective treatment of middle cerebral artery aneurysms.

Background: Intracranial aneurysms of the middle cerebral artery can be treated using several open surgical and endovascular approaches. Given the growing evidence of clinical equipoise between these various treatment strategies, there is a need to assess the costs associated with each.

Supporting self-determination among internationally educated nurses: a discussion.

: The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the global nursing shortage. As the shortage worsens, reliance on internationally educated nurses is expected to increase, presenting challenges and opportunities for health care systems and nurse leaders worldwide. While internationally educated nurses bring cultural and ethnic diversity to domestic workforces, they face significant hurdles in successfully integrating due to racism, discrimination, and isolation, which can have a negative impact on their self-determination.
