History And Reason For Admission: A 53-year-old man, who had undergone a splenectomy for a traumatic splenic tear 20 years previously, was admitted because an acute myocardial infarction was suspected. 20 years ago, a splenectomy had been performed because of traumatic rupture.

Investigations: Laboratory values were normal except for a microcytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia (109,000/microliter) and a raised ferritin level (547 ng/ml).

A case of ovarian sex cord tumor with annular tubules (SCTAT) without Peutz-Jeghers syndrome is presented in which portions of the neoplasm showed endometrioid differentiation. In addition, histologic examination of endometrium obtained from curettings and hysterectomy specimen revealed atrophic glands and a decidual type stroma, indicating a possible gestagenic effect of the ovarian tumor. The latter has so far been only briefly alluded to in the literature, whereas to the best of the authors' knowledge, endometrioid differentiation has not yet been reported to occur in SCTAT.

A case of congenital malaria due to Plasmodium malariae in one of two living Greek twins born in Germany is presented. In the child fever, anaemia and hepatosplenomegaly were first noticed at the age of two months. Plasmodium malariae parasites were demonstrated in the peripheral blood and bone marrow.

A 63-year-old male experienced pain in the epigastric region and a septic fiver. X-ray examinations showed a tumor-like process in the lower part of the left kidney with some concrements. Upon operation a nodular inflammatory tumor was found, occupying more than two-thirds of the left kidney.
