Background: Mild encephalitis/encephalopathy with reversible splenial lesion (MERS) is a clinical-radiological syndrome characterized by transient central nervous system symptoms and a reversible lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum (SCC) on magnetic resonance (MR). We reported a case of adult-onset MERS with uncommon presentation and reviewed the existing literature.
Methods: We described a case of adult-onset MERS with uncommon symptoms and signs and performed a systematic review of case series including more than four patients of adult-onset (> 14 years old) MERS, from January 2000 to December 2022.

Introduction: Over the years, congenital lung malformations (CLM) management remains a controversial topic in pediatric thoracic surgery. The Italian Society of Pediatric Surgery performed a national survey to study the current management variability among centers, trying to define national guidelines and a standardized approach of children with congenital lung malformations.
Methods: Following a National Society approval, an electronic survey including 35 items on post-natal management was designed, focusing on surgical, anesthesiology, radiology and pneumology aspects.
Objective: We decided to conduct a study based on these multidisciplinary team (MDT) in order to investigate their impact at the University Hospitals of Strasbourg and look for ways to improve this MDT.
Methods: This is a retrospective study of the 682 patients presented to endometriosis MDT from its inception in March 2017 to December 2020.
Results: The MDT decision was different from that initially proposed by the patient's referent for 406 patients (60%).

Introduction: The proximity of the urinary tract to the female genital tract explains its possible involvement in pelvic gynaecological cancer or deep endometriosis. Surgical treatment is aimed at improving overall survival and recurrence-free survival of patients, as well as restoring normal anatomy and functional integrity depending on the pathology. These operations are accompanied by significant post-operative complications.

Methods: This was carried out at our University Teaching Hospital of Strasbourg.
Results: We show the complete removal of an infected retropubic sling in a patient who had already undergone three previous surgeries without resolution of symptoms.
Oxidative stress is often involved in liver disease progression. Liver is the primary site for the synthesis of glutathione (GSH), the major intracellular antioxidant. GSH erythrocyte concentration can decrease in case of liver damage.

Study Objective: To demonstrate a systematic approach to the laparoscopic en bloc pelvic resection with rectosigmoid resection and anastomosis as part of ovarian cancer treatment in a tertiary gynecologic surgery referral center.
Design: This video illustrates an en bloc pelvic resection performed par laparoscopy in 10 steps.
Setting: A 56-year-old patient with an advanced high-grade serous ovarian cancer extending into the rectum was amenable to primary debulking surgery in accordance with the French guidelines [1].
Objective: To determine if there is an association between total lipid intake, saturated fatty acid (SFA), Poly- and Mono-Unsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA and MUFA) and cholesterol intake and breast cancer risk.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. We included all cohort and case-control studies published up to December 2020 with subgroup analysis according to menopausal status.

Study Objective: To describe the anatomy of the nerves during a laparoscopic retroperitoneal para-aortic lymphadenectomy with prioritization of their preservation.
Design: Demonstration of a nerve-preserving para-aortic lymphadenectomy.
Setting: A 65-year-old woman with no significant medical history underwent diagnostic laparoscopy for evaluation of a right ovarian mass.
Melanin nanoparticles are known to be biologically benign to human cells for a wide range of concentrations in a high glucose culture nutrition. Here, we show cytotoxic behavior at high nanoparticle and low glucose concentrations, as well as at low nanoparticle concentration under exposure to (nonionizing) visible radiation. To study these effects in detail, we developed highly monodispersed melanin nanoparticles (both uncoated and glucose-coated).

Objective: We aimed to present two cases of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) and a literature review to discuss their management.
Cases: We reported two cases of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) treated in Strasbourg's University Hospital between 2016 and 2018 and carried out an updated literature review concerning their treatment.
Results: The first case is a superficial implantation CSP managed by methotrexate (MTX) then ligation of the uterine arteries and echo-guided aspiration.
We study the large-amplitude response of classical molecules to electromagnetic radiation, showing the universality of the transition from linear to nonlinear response and breakup at sufficiently large amplitudes. We demonstrate that a range of models, from the simple harmonic oscillator to the successful Peyrard-Bishop-Dauxois type models of DNA, which include realistic effects of the environment (including damping and dephasing due to thermal fluctuations), lead to characteristic universal behavior: formation of domains of dissociation in driving force amplitude-frequency space, characterized by the presence of local boundary minima. We demonstrate that by simply following the progression of the resonance maxima in this space, while gradually increasing intensity of the radiation, one must necessarily arrive at one of these minima, i.

Method: After an experimental prototyping step on two pigs to determine the optimal conditions for visualization of the ureter in AR, three pigs were operated three times at 1 week intervals. The intervention consisted of an identification of the ureter, with and without the assistance of AR.
Background uPA and PAI-1 are breast cancer biomarkers that evaluate the benefit of chemotherapy (CT) for HER2-negative, estrogen receptor-positive, low or intermediate grade patients. Our objectives were to observe clinical routine use of uPA/PAI-1 and to build a new therapeutic decision tree integrating uPA/PAI-1. Methods We observed the concordance between CT indications proposed by a canonical decision tree representative of French practices (not including uPA/PAI-1) and actual CT prescriptions decided by a medical board which included uPA/PAI-1.

Study Objective: Radical trachelectomy has emerged as a valuable fertility-preserving treatment option for young women with early-stage cervical cancer [1]. Laparoscopic radical trachelectomy performed by trained surgeons can be a feasible and safe therapeutic option as a fertility-sparing surgical technique [2,3]. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time the total laparoscopic approach of radical trachelectomy is being published.

Methods: The prospective, single-centre study conducted in 2015 compared preoperative MRI with histological analysis of mastectomy.
Results: One hundred one mastectomies from 98 patients were extensively analysed.

Objective: The objective of this review was to assess the level of risk of breast cancer for women exposed to ovulation-inducing therapy (OIT).
Methods: The 25 selected studies were extracted from the PUBMED database from January 2000 until March 2016 with the following key-words: "fertility agents", "infertility treatments", "clomiphene citrate", "buserelin", "ovarian stimulation", "assisted reproductive technology" and "breast cancer". Our meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager software, Cochrane Collaboration, 2014.
It is known that paedomorphic characteristics, called "baby schema" by Lorenz, trigger an orienting response in adults, are judged as attractive and stimulate parental care. On the other hand, it is known that ethnicity may influence face encoding, with an advantage in recognizing faces of their own ethnicity (called own-race effect). Some have argued that this effect holds also for infant faces, which conflicts with the "baby schema" phenomenon.

Study Objective: To illustrate a laparoscopic technique for the resection of cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy, associated with isthmocele repair.
Design: Case report (Canadian Task Force classification III).
Setting: A tertiary referral center in Strasbourg, France.
Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common surgical emergency in newborns and it is still a leading cause of death despite the improvements reached in the management of the critically ill neonate. The purpose of this study was to evaluate risk factors, surgical treatments and outcome of surgical NEC.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated a multicentric group of 184 patients with surgical NEC over a period of 5 years (2008-2012).
