Despite successful vaccines and updates, constant mutations of SARS-CoV-2 makes necessary the search for new vaccines. We generated a chimeric protein that comprises the receptor-binding domain from spike and the nucleocapsid antigens (SpiN) from SARS-CoV-2. Once SpiN elicits a protective immune response in rodents, here we show that convalescent and previously vaccinated individuals respond to SpiN.

Objectives: To evaluate the presence of psychofunctional symptoms (PFS) in infants of young mothers from southern Brazil and to examine the association of those symptoms with indicators of maternal mental health and maternal perception of marital adjustment, family support, and quality of parental bonding.
Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional study of descriptive and correlational nature was conducted using a convenience sample of 71 young mother-infant dyads. The following instruments were administered: Sociodemographic Data and Clinical Data Forms, Symptom Check-List (SCL), Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview Plus (MINI-Plus), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II), Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), and Perception of Family Support Inventory (IPSF).
Study Design: Retrospective study OBJECTIVES: To describe the epidemiological and clinical profile in a retrospective chart review of individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) and osteoporosis-related fractures.
Setting: A Brazilian rehabilitation hospital.
Methods: This is a retrospective chart review that included 325 individuals with SCI and osteoporosis-related fractures who were admitted to a Brazilian rehabilitation hospital between January 1997 and December 2017.

This study reports on the design, synthesis and antiparasitic activity of three new semi-synthetic naphthoquinones structurally related to the naturally-occurring lapachol and lapachone. Of the compounds tested, 3-(3-methylbut-1-en-1-yl)-1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl acetate (1) was the most active against Plasmodium falciparum among both natural and semi-synthetic naphthoquinones, showing potent and selective activity. Compound 1 was able to reduce the in vitro parasite burden, in vitro parasite cell cycle, as well as the blood parasitemia in Plasmodium berghei-infected mice.

While potent anti-HIV and antitumoral activities were attributed to BA, it is considered to have a moderate anti-inflammatory activity. Here we evaluated the effects of BA in a mouse model of endotoxic shock.

In such cases, they are used as chemotaxonomic markers for the difficult task of taxonomic identification by using morphological characteristics of plants belonging to this family. The present work describes the distribution of ecdysteroids in plants from the genus Vitex from a review of previous work on seventeen Vitex species.
