Aortic Thrombosis Associated with Three Types of COVID-19 Vaccine.

Aortic thrombosis has been studied little in patients with COVID-19 and an association has recently been reported with the vaccine for this disease. The aim of the present study is to report five cases of aortic thrombosis at our institution within a three-month period associated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Five cases of aortic thrombosis were evaluated-three women and two men aged 29, 49, 51, 60, and 79 years.

Free-floating thrombus in lower limb deep veins and May-Thurner syndrome: case report.

Free-floating thrombus in the deep venous system has a high potential to cause pulmonary embolization. It can also be found in patients with superficial venous thrombosis (SVT) that extends to a deep vein. There are still no defined criteria for treatments described in the literature, which range from anticoagulation and fibrinolytic treatments with vena cava filter implants, through open or endovascular thrombectomies, to more invasive procedures such as surgical interruption with ligation of the venous system.

Objectives: To describe a series of cases of prophylactic uterine catheterization performed to prevent significant postpartum bleeding or during caesarean delivery in pregnant women with a previous diagnosis of accretion.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of medical records of cases of uterine artery catheterization performed during elective or emergency caesarean sections of patients at high risk of postpartum bleeding.

Haemosuccus pancreaticus (HP) is an uncommon cause of upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, most often intermittent, making it difficult to diagnose, becoming fatal. It usually occurs in patients with chronic pancreatitis and is caused by the rupture of a visceral aneurysm within the main pancreatic duct. The association between pseudoaneurysm formation and pancreatitis is well established.

Antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of lavender essential oil.

Several studies have investigated the antinociceptive, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of compounds found in the lavender essential oil (LEO), however to date, there is still lack of substantial data. The objective of this study was to assess the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects of lavender essential oil. The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical decolorization assay was used for antioxidant activity evaluation.

Religiosity aspects in patients with epilepsy.

The objectives of this study were to assess religiosity aspects in patients with epilepsy (PWEs) and controls and to determine whether such aspects were related to the samples' clinical, sociodemographic, and QOL-31 data. The Duke Religion Index was administered to 159 adult PWEs and 50 controls. The relationships between the Duke Religion Index and the study variables of the two groups were compared.

P2X7 receptor is required for neutrophil accumulation in a mouse model of irritant contact dermatitis.

Irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) is an inflammatory reaction caused by chemical toxicity on the skin. The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) is a key mediator of cytokine release, which recruits immune cells to sites of inflammation. We investigated the role of P2X7R in croton oil (CrO)-induced ICD using in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Phenolic enriched extract of Baccharis trimera presents anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.

Baccharis trimera is a plant popularly used as a tea and to treat gastrointestinal diseases and inflammatory processes as well. [Complications of the hemodialysis procedure in acute renal failure patients: nursing interventions].

This retrospective study has identified both the prevalence of complications during hemodialitic treatment in patients carrying acute renal failure (ARF) in an intensive care unit of a university hospital and the nursing conduct performed during those episodes.
