This study introduces a sophisticated neural network structure for segmenting breast tumors. It achieves this by combining a pretrained Vision Transformer (ViT) model with a UNet framework. The UNet architecture, commonly employed for biomedical image segmentation, is further enhanced with depthwise separable convolutional blocks to decrease computational complexity and parameter count, resulting in better efficiency and less overfitting.

The comprehension of the factors affecting the adsorption of ethanol over metals and metal alloys is a crucial step for the rational development of new catalysts for hydrogen production through ethanol reforming. In this work, we analyze the effect of combining Pt and Sn on a metal cluster on the complexation energy and reactivity for OH dehydrogenation of ethanol. Metal clusters of Pt, Sn and PtSn had their putative minimum located with the help of the artificial bee colony algorithm.

Narrative medicine (NM) is an approach that values the patient's narrative about his/her disease as central to the clinical encounter and helps doctors to be more attentive to their patients' perspectives in the diagnostic and therapeutic process. A curricular change enabled a greater insertion of the humanities in the curriculum of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Brasília in Brasília, Brazil. In this context, NM was incorporated into one of the disciplines of the third semester.

Despite the high prevalence of neural and immune disorders, their etiology and molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. As the zebrafish (Danio rerio) is increasingly utilized as a powerful model organism in biomedical research, mounting evidence suggests these fish as a useful tool to study neural and immune mechanisms and their interplay. Here, we discuss zebrafish neuro-immune mechanisms and their pharmacological and genetic modulation, the effect of stress on cytokines, as well as relevant models of microbiota-brain interplay.
