In our attempt to develop effective EGFR-TKIs, two series of 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine derivatives were designed and synthesized. All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated in vitro for their inhibitory activities against EGFR. Background: We sought to determine whether conversion from tacrolimus/mycophenolate mofetil (TAC-MMF) into tacrolimus/mTOR inhibitor (TAC-mTOR) immunosuppression would reduce the incidences of BK and CMV viremia after kidney/pancreas (KP) transplantation.

Although a large proportion of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) accumulate misfolded aggregates composed of the islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP), its role in the disease is unknown. Here, we show that pancreatic IAPP aggregates can promote the misfolding and aggregation of endogenous IAPP in islet cultures obtained from transgenic mouse or healthy human pancreas. Islet homogenates immunodepleted with anti-IAPP-specific antibodies were not able to induce IAPP aggregation.

Herein, we describe a case of early belatacept conversion in a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive kidney transplant recipient in an effort to improve suboptimal graft function and avoid drug interactions following anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) administration. We observed improvement in renal function without HIV disease progression or opportunistic infections. Donor-specific antibodies appeared shortly after conversion but cleared without intervention.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients commonly exhibit poor prognosis and high relapse after treatment, but there remains a lack of biomarkers and effective targeted therapies for this disease. Here, we report evidence highlighting the cell-cycle-related kinase CDK7 as a driver and candidate therapeutic target in TNBC. Using publicly available transcriptomic data from a collated set of TNBC patients ( = 383) and the METABRIC TNBC dataset ( = 217), we found mRNA levels to be correlated with patient prognosis.

Background: Kidney transplant candidates undergo rigorous testing prior to clearance for transplantation. Because kidney transplant candidates may be at increased risk for carotid artery stenosis because of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis secondary to hypertension, vascular calcification, and diabetes, carotid ultrasound is often performed with the intent of preventing a cerebrovascular accident in the perioperative or posttransplant period. To our knowledge, there has not been a study investigating the utility of screening carotid ultrasonography in pretransplant candidates.
