Background: Endogenous endophthalmitis results from hematogenous spread of bacterial or fungal infection in severely diseased patients. Specific systemic and intraocular therapy is required. The basis for this treatment is causal pathogen detection in blood culture or vitreous sample.

Treated Cases of Retinopathy of Prematurity in Germany: 10-Year Data from the Retina.net Retinopathy of Prematurity Registry.

Purpose: To analyze changes in demographic parameters and retreatment patterns over a 10-year period in a clinical routine setting of infants with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) requiring treatment documented in the German Retina.net ROP registry.

Design: Multicenter, noninterventional, observational registry study recruiting patients treated for ROP.

Background: The handling of fireworks regularly leads to a variety of injuries affecting the periocular region. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown and a sales ban on consumer fireworks for the private sector the number of injuries massively decreased; however, a considerable increase was registered again at the last New Year festivities. The aim of this work was to present the extent and spectrum of such injuries in a maximum care center.

[Fireworks injuries of the eye: an overview of current diagnostic and treatment options].

Fireworks can cause very different eye injuries. The injury patterns range from spontaneously healing conjunctival and corneal lesions up to a burst eyeball with very severe injuries in the posterior ocular section and traumatic enucleation. Background: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin has been successfully introduced to treat choroidal neovascularisations (CNV) that have more than 50% classic CNV components due to exudative age-dependent macular degeneration (AMD) and other diagnoses. However, what is still unclear is if patients with recurrent subfoveal CNV who have had prior laser coagulation can also profit from PDT for CNV.

Methods: The course of visual acuity (ETDRS) and the fluorescein angiographic findings were retrospectively analysed after standard PDT of recurrent subfoveal CNV after prior argon laser coagulation of an extrafoveal or juxtafoveal CNV in AMD or other diagnoses.
