Objective: To develop an experimental porcine model of tricuspid regurgitation using two induction routes: the inferior vena cava and superior vena cava.
Methods: Tricuspid regurgitation was generated using the loop wire cutting method. The tricuspid regurgitation jet direction was controlled by accessing the valve through the inferior (n = 7) or superior (n = 6) vena cava.
This study investigates the synergistic impact of fermenting kale juice with strains on its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Kale's rich nutrient profile, especially its flavonoids, offers potential health benefits. Probiotic lactic acid bacteria are employed in kale fermentation to enhance nutrient bioavailability and generate bioactive compounds.

However, research on the correlation between the MD and the prognosis of heart transplantation (HTx) is lacking. This study was conducted to investigate the clinical impact of MD in HTx.

Heart disease is often accompanied by lung disease as they share the same risk factors. Heart or lung transplantation is regarded as a definitive treatment for the end-stage disease of each, while the expected median survival for lung transplantation is far shorter than heart transplantation. We present a case of refractory heart failure along with severe obstructive and restrictive lung disease that showed dramatic improvement in pulmonary function after single heart transplantation.

Tetragenococcus halophilus is a halophilic lactic acid bacterium that is a candidate starter for high-salt fermented foods. However, the species is known to produce biogenic amines, which are associated with neurotoxicity.

Various adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccination have been reported, including cardiovascular complications such as myocarditis or pericarditis. Herein, we describe clinical records of a 63-year woman with fulminant myocarditis following ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccination that was salvaged by heart transplantation.

In this study, we developed an anti-inflammatory probiotic starter, EFEL6901, for use in kimchi fermentation. The EFEL6901 strain was safe for use in foods and was stable under human gastrointestinal conditions.

To achieve the goal, the characteristics of 25 strains of were compared in terms of health promoting potentials and rice fermenting abilities. MG7011 was selected as a superior strain to meet the required properties.

Here, we report the probiotic properties of Lactobacillus pentosus SMB718 isolated from Korean traditional paste and its high allyl mercaptan productivity in garlic and onion fermentation. This strain was safe for use in food fermentation, as it was a non-biogenic amine producer and non-hemolytic.

G protein-coupled receptor 30 (GPR30) has been shown to regulate growth of hormonally responsive cancers, such as ovarian and breast cancers, and high expression of GPR30 is found in estrogen receptor (ER)-negative breast cancer cells. ER-negative breast cancer patients often have a mutation in the tumor suppressor gene, .

Such sensitivities could be controlled by adjusting the surface area or (in)organic additives; however, increased stability leads to a decrease in the explosives' performance. Here, high-energy-density molecules hosted in inverse opal-like porous carbon (IOC) nanocomposites demonstrate the mechanical stabilization and desensitization of RDX and HMX inside the carbon nanostructure using host-guest chemistry techniques.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFT1/T2 dual-mode magnetic resonance (MR) contrast agents (DMCAs) have gained much attention because of their ability to improve accuracy by providing two pieces of complementary information with one instrument. However, most of these agents are "always ON" systems that emit MR contrast regardless of their interaction with target cells or biomarkers, which may result in poor target-to-background ratios. Herein, we introduce a rationally designed magnetic relaxation switch (MGRS) for an activatable T1/T2 dual MR imaging system.
