Background: This study investigates the effect of botulinum toxin A on lipid layer thickness (LLT) and blink dynamics in patients with benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) compared to dry eye disease (DED) patients.

Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients with dry eye disease (DED) and BEB treated with botulinum toxin A (BoT A) injections. Data on demographics, lipid layer thickness (LLT), meiboscore, and blink dynamics measured using a LipiView II interferometer before and 2 months after BoT A were collected.

Chronic diarrhea is a common condition that medical professionals often encounter. We present an unusual case of chronic diarrhea in a relatively young, immunocompetent man that was attributed to . The patient's clinical presentation was not specific, and he underwent workup for common infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune causes, all unrevealing.

Bone grafting procedures have become increasingly common in the United States, with approximately 500,000 cases occurring each year at a societal cost exceeding $2.4 billion. Recombinant human bone morphogenetic proteins (rhBMPs) are therapeutic agents that have been widely used by orthopedic surgeons to stimulate bone tissue formation alone and when paired with biomaterials.

Undifferentiated esophageal carcinomas (UEC) are rare, with aggressive behavior and a dismal prognosis. An extremely rare subset is the SMARCA4-deficient UEC, which has only been reported in 14 cases to date. We present two cases of male patients (39- and 64-year-old) with SMARCA4-deficient UEC.

Serology testing of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is increasingly being used during the current pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), although its clinical and epidemiologic utilities are still debatable. Characterizing these assays provides scientific basis to best use them. The current study assessed one chemiluminescent assay (Abbott COVID-2 IgG) and two lateral flow assays (STANDARD Q [SQ] IgM/IgG Duo and Wondfo total antibody test) using 113 blood samples from 71 PCR-confirmed COVID-19 hospitalized patients, 119 samples with potential cross-reactions, and 1068 negative controls including 942 pre-pandemic samples.

Intraductal papillary neoplasms of the bile duct (IPNBs) are papillary epithelial proliferations with delicate fibrovascular cores within dilated bile ducts. They are thought to be premalignant lesions with potential to progress invasive tumors. To our knowledge, there are no prior descriptions of IPNB cytomorphology.
