Article Synopsis
  • Optimizations in immunotherapy for Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) show promise, particularly in targeting galectin-9 (Gal-9) after radiotherapy.
  • In TNBC patients receiving neoadjuvant radiotherapy, higher Gal-9 levels were observed in non-responders compared to baseline, indicating a potential link between Gal-9 expression and treatment response.
  • A study in mice showed that targeting Gal-9 with an antibody led to reduced tumor growth only in those injected with irradiated cancer cells, suggesting Gal-9's potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in TNBC.

Intestinal goblet cells are secretory cells specialized in the production of mucins, and as such are challenged by the need for efficient protein folding. Goblet cells express Inositol-Requiring Enzyme-1β (IRE1β), a unique sensor in the unfolded protein response (UPR), which is part of an adaptive mechanism that regulates the demands of mucin production and secretion. However, how IRE1β activity is tuned to mucus folding load remains unknown.

The aim of the data farming project by the Unitrad group is to produce and use large quantities of structured real-life data throughout radiotherapy treatment. Starting in 2016, target real world data were selected at expert consensus conferences and regularly updated, then captured in MOSAIQ© as the patient was treated. For each partner institution, the data was then stored in a relational database, then extracted and used by researchers to create real world knowledge.

Purpose: This economic evaluation reports the incremental cost-utility ratio and national budget impact in France of accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) vs standard or hypofractionated whole breast irradiation (WBI) in breast cancer patients at low risk of local recurrence.

Materials And Methods: We compared 490 women randomized to the APBI (ten fractions delivered twice daily over one week) with 488 women in the WBI arm (one fraction per day delivered five days per week over three or six weeks). We took the perspective of the French national health insurance with a three-year time horizon.

Purpose: The thyroid is an endocrine gland playing a major role in metabolism and development by the secretion of T4 and T3 thyroid hormones. Due to its anatomical position, it is often included in the target volume for the irradiation of certain tumours and thus receives significant doses (10 to 80Gy). The treatment of breast cancer requires in most cases a breast irradiation associated or not with a lymph node irradiation.

Pemphigus is a serious and rare chronic bullous autoimmune disease. It is characterized by mucocutaneous erosions secondary to autoantibodies directed against desmogleins 1 and 3, proteins involved in intercellular adhesion mechanisms. The occurrence of pemphigus is based on the triggering of genetic and external environmental factors such as drugs, infection, and more rarely radiotherapy.

Purpose: To evaluate the dosimetric contribution of helical tomotherapy for breast cancers compared with conformal radiotherapy in mono-isocentric technique.

Patients And Method: For 23 patients, the dosimetric results in mono-isocentric 3D conformational radiotherapy did not satisfy the constraints either of target volumes nor organs at risk. A prospective dosimetric comparison between mono-isocentric 3D conformational radiotherapy and helical tomotherapy was therefore carried out.

Objectives: In our study, we aimed to assess the pathologic complete response after neo-additive chemotherapy that contains a taxan associated to trastuzumab for patients treated from breast cancer at the institute Jean-Godinot between 2012 and 2014, and to evaluate factors associated to this pathologic complete response.

Methods: Retrospective study with clinical, anatomopathologic and radiologic parameters analysis before and after new adjuvant chemotherapy. The statistical analysis was done on logiciel XL-STAT, the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon for quantitative variables and Fisher exact tests for qualitative variables, the Spearman rang test.

Purpose: The activity of our radiation oncology department mainly relies on breast pathology. Since July 2009, all the irradiations delivered simultaneously to the breast (CTV1), the surgical bed (CTV2), the internal mammary chain and the supra- and infraclavicular areas have been carried out using a mono-isocentric technique. This study aimed to compare dosimetric results between conventional 2D and mono-isocentric 3D techniques with or without optimization.

Background: Past studies on smokers' risk perception have produced mixed results. We endorsed a new approach to assess smokers' perceptions of risk by asking them to estimate threshold values for the cancer risk associated with daily consumption of tobacco and number of smoking years. We expected that many smokers would endorse a "risk denial" attitude, with threshold estimates higher than their own smoking consumption and duration.
