Primary inferior vena cava (IVC) tumors are rare. Most are leiomyosarcomas. The prognosis is poor with those involving and superior to the hepatic veins faring worse than those isolated within the retrohepatic cava.

To address this, the Health Professions Scholarship Program is annually awarded to medical students to facilitate their transition into the U.S.

Assessing functional antibodies through conventional or pseudotyped virus neutralisation tests (pVNT) requires high biosafety levels. Alternatively, the virus-free surrogate virus neutralisation test (sVNT) quantifies antibodies interfering with spike binding to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2.

Hybrid polymer lenses combining multiple functions such as diffraction and refraction in a single component become possible. In this paper, a process chain to enable encapsulated and aligned optical systems with advanced functionality in a cost-efficient way is presented.

Traditional techniques can be time consuming, require meticulous hemostasis, and risk aneurysmal patch degeneration, which can require a challenging reoperation. We describe our experience using a stent graft to create a sutureless anastomosis that obviates these drawbacks.

Despite various experimental studies and known solutions to reduce demolding forces, there is still not a complete understanding of the effects that occur. For this reason, laboratory devices and in-process measurement injection molding tools have been developed to measure demolding forces.

Hard coatings can be applied onto microstructured molds to influence wear, form filling and demolding behaviors in microinjection molding. As an alternative to this conventional manufacturing procedure, "direct processing" of physical-vapor-deposited (PVD) hard coatings was investigated in this study, by fabricating submicron features directly into the coatings for a subsequent replication via molding. Different diamondlike carbon (DLC) and chromium nitride (CrN) PVD coatings were investigated regarding their suitability for focused ion beam (FIB) milling and microinjection molding using microscope imaging and areal roughness measurements.

Despite evidence of its effectiveness and low cost, coverage has remained low, largely due to sociocultural barriers. We aimed to better understand social norms and community perceptions of preterm infants and KMC (facility-initiated and community-continued) in Malawi, a country with a high preterm birth rate, to inform a pilot social and behavior change program.

Therefore, FIB/FEB technology is a favorable technique for preparing TEM lamellae, nanocontacts, or nanowires and repairing electronic circuits. This work investigates FIB/FEB technology as a tool for nanotip fabrication and quantum mechanical tunneling applications at a low tunneling voltage.

Given advancements in imaging and critical care, our aim was to evaluate if the timing of ICH diagnosis in infants on ECLS support has changed. Patients <6 months old undergoing ECLS 2011-2020 at a tertiary care children's hospital were included.

Because MFCA is an environmental management accounting tool that simultaneously assesses company material and financial flows, it is expected to contribute to the circular economy by assisting companies to achieve both environmental and economic goals through resource efficiency. In short, the expected linkages between MFCA, company environmental and economic goals, and the circular economy are inputs, outputs, and outcomes.

MEMS accelerometers are commonly used for tilt measurement. They can only be manufactured by large companies with clean-room technology due to the high requirements during assembly.

For this purpose, a wide range of annuloplasty devices differing in form and flexibility are available. This study reports the results using a three-dimensional annuloplasty ring (Medtronic, Contour 3D Ring) for TV repair and analysis of risk factors.

Background: Kangaroo mother care (KMC) is an evidence-based intervention with large protective effects on neonatal mortality and morbidity, especially among small babies. Despite the available evidence, KMC adoption, implementation and scale-up has lagged. The purpose of this paper is to inform current and future KMC implementation by identifying achievements and challenges in countries that are in the process of scaling up KMC.

Total anomalous origin of the coronary arteries from the pulmonary artery (TCAPA) represents a rare subtype of coronary artery anomaly for which little is known. The aim of this review was to characterise the presentation, utilised diagnostic modalities, associated cardiac lesions, and treatment strategies in patients with TCAPA.

Patients And Methods: To investigate the role of 82kDa proMMP-9 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL), we performed flow-cytometry analysis of expression on ALL blasts (n=18) and CLL lymphocytes (n=21) from blood and correlated data with clinical parameters.
Most accelerometers today are based on the capacitive principle. However, further miniaturization for micro integration of those sensors leads to a poorer signal-to-noise ratio due to a small total area of the capacitor plates. Thus, other transducer principles should be taken into account to develop smaller sensors.

Intussusception is uncommon among adults. The condition, which is defined as a telescoping of a proximal portion of the small or large bowel into the lumen of an adjacent segment of bowel, is most commonly seen in children. Among pediatric cases, the majority is benign and treated non-operatively.

Anomalous origin of the circumflex or left anterior descending artery from the pulmonary artery (ACxAPA and ALADAPA, respectively) are rare congenital coronary anomalies with clinical presentation varying from an asymptomatic murmur to sudden cardiac arrest. A systematic review was performed, and 46 cases of ACxAPA and 51 cases of ALADAPA were identified in 87 articles. Data were collected and analyzed from each case.
