Aim: To develop and internally validate a model predicting life-threatening events for out-of-hours primary care callers with shortness of breath.
Method: This cross-sectional study includes data from 1,952 patients with shortness of breath who called out-of-hours primary care between September 2020 and August 2021. Four logistic regression models were developed with life-threatening events as the outcome.
Background: This study aims to outline sleep strategies grounded in scientific research and endorsed by sleep experts, integrating parental input into the evaluation process, to assist parents in supporting infant sleep after discharge from a neonatal ward.
Methods: A Delphi method, consisting of three rounds, was employed. Sleep strategies based on scientific literature were presented to sleep experts and parents of infants discharged from a neonatal ward.
Background: Anecdotal reports suggest that missed diagnosis in general practice during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to a drop in life-threatening events (LTEs) detected in hospitals.
Objectives: To investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the accuracy of urgency allocation by telephone triage of patients with shortness of breath and/or chest discomfort in out-of-hours primary care (OHS-PC). Accuracy is defined as the correct allocation of high urgency to patients with LTEs and low urgency to those without.
Plant and animal stem cells receive signals from their surrounding cells to stay undifferentiated. In the Arabidopsis root, the quiescent center (QC) acts as a stem cell organizer, signaling to the neighboring stem cells. WOX5 is a central transcription factor regulating QC function.

Within clinician-scientists' networks, knowledge sharing is thought to play a vital role in the continuing professional development of themselves and their colleagues. However, little is known about networks of clinician-scientists and how this impacts continuing professional development.

In the stem cell organizer of the Arabidopsis thaliana root, the quiescent centre (QC), the WOX5 transcription factor, functions as a central hub in regulating columella stem cell (CSC) homoeostasis. However, the processes mediating WOX5 function are only poorly understood.

This study synthesises literature, to better understand how language affects triage interactions, aiming to improve these processes.

Introduction: Multimodal therapy has become the standard treatment for curable upper gastrointestinal cancers. However, it remains unclear which 8th edition AJCC post-neoadjuvant therapy pathological classification system, esophageal (ypTNM-EC) or gastric (ypTNM-GC), can predict the overall survival (OS) of patients with Siewert II adenocarcinomas better.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with Siewert II adenocarcinomas receiving neoadjuvant therapy plus curative resection at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) and the Peking University Cancer Hospital (PUCH) between the 2001 and 2022 were included in this study.
Objective: The added value of systematic client feedback (SCF) to psychotherapy can be affected by patient perspectives, both in a positive and negative way, and is influenced by cultural factors as well. Current study explores patients' perspectives on use and optimization of SCF in Dutch outpatient mental healthcare. Primary aim of present study is to generate implications for daily practice and optimize SCF implementation, particularly for the Netherlands.

Methods: Patients staged with cT4bM0 esophageal cancer who were registered in the Netherlands Cancer Registry (NCR) were included.
Objective: To clarify the impact of the preoperative time intervals on short-term postoperative and pathologic outcomes in patients with esophageal cancer who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) followed by esophagectomy.
Background: The impact of preoperative intervals on patients with esophageal cancer who received multimodality treatment remains unknown.
Methods: Patients (cT1-4aN0-3M0) treated with nCRT plus esophagectomy were included using the Dutch national DUCA database.
Study Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sleep stages and neural microstructure - measured using diffusion tensor imaging - of the posterior limb of the internal capsule and corticospinal tract in preterm infants.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of 50 preterm infants born between 24 + 4 and 29 + 3 weeks gestational age was included in the study. Sleep stages were continuously measured for 5-7 consecutive days between 29 + 0 and 31 + 6 weeks postmenstrual age using an in-house-developed, and recently published, automated sleep staging algorithm based on routinely measured heart rate and respiratory rate.
Background: Clinician-teachers, physicians with educational responsibilities in either classroom or clinical setting, are assumed to add value by virtue of their dual role. The clinical responsibilities are often prioritised over the educational tasks. How and under which circumstances clinician-teachers are able to perform their educational role and create added value for different stakeholders is currently unclear.

Prior research has found that there are consistent and stable individual differences in social information use. However, the underlying mechanisms of these individual differences are still poorly understood.

The current report aimed to determine the accuracy of endobronchial ultrasound in assessing tumor invasion in the tracheobronchial tree after dCRT in patients with cT4b esophageal cancer.
Methods: Esophageal cancer patients with suspicion of tracheobronchial tree invasion on the diagnostic contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) who underwent a staging endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS) were eligible for inclusion in this study.
In 1966, Howard Roffwarg proposed the ontogenic sleep hypothesis, relating neural plasticity and development to rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, a hypothesis that current fetal and neonatal sleep research is still exploring. Recently, technological advances have enabled researchers to automatically quantify neonatal sleep architecture, which has caused a resurgence of research in this field as attempts are made to further elucidate the important role of sleep in pre- and postnatal brain development. This article will review our current understanding of the role of sleep as a driver of brain development and identify possible areas for future research.

The impact of discontinued NAT on the surgical safety and pathological outcomes of elderly patients with poor tolerance remains poorly understood.
Methods: Gastric cancer patients received gastrectomy with curative intent from the Dutch upper GI cancer audit (DUCA) database were included in this study.

Background: Health professions education (HPE) research in the General Practice domain (GP-HPE) is vital for high-quality healthcare. Collaboration among GP-HPE researchers is crucial but challenging. Formulating a research agenda, involving stakeholders, and fostering inter-institutional collaboration can address these challenges and connect educational research and practice.

Body composition impacts female fertility and there are established relationships between adipose tissue and the reproductive system. Maintaining functional adipose tissue is vital for meeting the energetic demands during the reproductive process, from ovulation to delivery and lactation. White adipose tissue (WAT) shows plastic responses to daily physiology and secretes diverse adipokines that affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, but many other interorgan interactions remain to be determined.

However, results of the model are dependent on the context. Understanding when, why and how the model works may increase chances of successful broader implementation in other general practices.

This study determined the effectiveness of ambulatory continuous popliteal sciatic nerve blockade, compared to standard of care, on overall benefit of analgesia score (OBAS) in patients undergoing foot or ankle surgery. We hypothesized that usage of ambulatory continuous popliteal sciatic nerve blockade is non-inferior to standard of care.
