Objective: The incidence of sub-centimeter pulmonary nodules has been increasing along with the use of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) as a screening tool for early lung cancer detection. In our institution, pulmonary nodule computed tomography-guided localization (PNCL) is performed preoperatively with the laser angle guided assembly (LAGA), an angle reference device. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of postgraduate education in a phantom simulation of PNCL, with or without LAGA.

Article Synopsis
  • In arthropods, the Down Syndrome Cell Adhesion Molecule (Dscam) gene can produce a vast number of splice variants, with significant variation noted in the Chinese mitten crab, where specific exons can create numerous alternatives.
  • Recent research using Illumina sequencing identified even more splice variants, potentially leading to over 50,000 unique Dscam protein variants in this species.
  • The study found that one of these proteins, EsDscam-Ig1-Ig7, can bind to certain bacteria and enhance immune responses, while lacking direct antibacterial properties, suggesting a crucial role in immunity through phagocytosis and bacterial clearance.

We present the 2021 Singapore Paediatric Resuscitation Guidelines. The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation's Pediatric Taskforce Consensus Statements on Science and Treatment Recommendations, which was published in October 2020, and the updated resuscitation guidelines from the American Heart Association and European Resuscitation Council, were reviewed and discussed by the committee. These recommendations were derived after deliberation of peer-reviewed evidence updates on paediatric resuscitation and took into consideration the local setting and clinical practice.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a neurological disorder characterized by headache, seizures, confusion and visual disturbances, as well as potentially reversible neuroimaging findings in most patients after proper treatment. Seizures is one of the most common clinical presentations of PRES. This review summarizes the potential pathophysiology and clinical features of PRES, as well as a multimodal approach to imaging and also briefly discusses the phenomenon of seizures in paediatric population.

Background And Objectives: Although numerous efforts have been made to promote age-friendly communities (AFCs) in urban China, challenges such as the engagement and management of stakeholders, budget constraints, and policy issues remain. This article describes the work of designing a multi-agent platform (MAP) for the briefing stage of AFC projects.

Research Design And Methods: The process to design the MAP is first described, and the components and variables are identified.

By adopting the concept of 'factory assembly followed by onsite installation,' construction industrialisation (CI) plays an increasingly important role in sustainable urban development. CI can enhance construction quality and efficiency while reducing environmental impacts. To promote the CI, several policy interventions have been developed and implemented in different countries and regions.

Carbon emission quantifications in China are not consistent, with many standards and methods having been used over the years. This study identified the non-consideration of China-specific technology and databases as a factor limiting comprehensive quantification. The study aimed to comprehensively quantify regional direct CO emission in the industry using a hybrid of economic and environmental data.

Objectives: To study the expression levels of microRNA-138 (miR-138) and Runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3) in peripheral blood of children with cough variant asthma (CVA) and their regulatory effects on Th1/Th2 balance.

Methods: Sixty-five children with CVA (CVA group) and 30 healthy children (control group) were enrolled. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected for both groups, and CD4 T cells were isolated and cultured.

Construction Industrialization (CI) tends to improve industrial performance and contributes substantially towards global sustainability. Considering these merits, many countries and regions, including Hong Kong, have released policies to promote CI uptake. However, those policy interventions ignore the dynamic influence of stakeholders and technologies, which significantly influence the efficient management of CI.

The local structural, electronic, optical, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) properties are uniformly studied for Cu -doped rutile (TiO ) crystals by using the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The local cation-oxygen bond lengths and planar bond angle, band gap, Mulliken charge and overlapping population, density of state (DOS), and UV-Vis absorption spectra are calculated for pure and copper-doped rutile. The smaller overlapping population of Cu-O bonds in the doped system than Ti-O bonds in pure rutile reflects weaker orbital admixtures or covalency of the former.

To investigate the prevalence and genotype distribution of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) and the correlation between cervical lesions and analyze the risk factors for HR-HPV infection. In June 2018, a population-based study for cervical cancer screening in Tuoli county of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was conducted. A total of 2 000 Kazak women aged 25-64 years were included in the study.

Objective: To investigate the seroprevalence of infections among patients with rheumatoid arthritis, malignant tumors and schizophrenia in Wuxi City, so as to provide data support for the control of toxoplasmosis in these patients.

Methods: A total of 205 cases with definitive diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, 257 cases with definitive diagnosis of malignant tumors and 235 cases with definitive diagnosis of schizophrenia were recruited, while 250 healthy volunteers served as controls. The demographic features were captured from the study subjects and serum samples were collected.

The construction sector is a critical part in achieving energy conservation targets in China, as it accounts for approximately 30% of the annual national energy supply for building construction. Therefore, this study integrates multi-regional input-output analysis and ecological network analysis to track energy fluxes and pathways from the construction sector, aiming to facilitate the configuration of the energy-flow structure and improve understanding of the region's responsibilities. Results of a spatial distribution analysis show that the eastern area of China leads in fossil energy consumption (e.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is lethal, and the majority of patients present with locally advanced or metastatic disease that is not amenable to cure. Thus, with surgical resection being the only curative modality, it is critical that disease is identified at an earlier stage to allow the appropriate therapy to be applied. Unfortunately, a specific biomarker for early diagnosis has not yet been identified; hence, no screening process exists.

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of S100 calcium binding protein A16 (S100A16) in lipid metabolism in hepatocytes and its possible biological mechanism. HepG2 cells (human hepatoma cell line) were cultured with fatty acid to establish fatty acid culture model. The control model was cultured without fatty acid.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of noncoding transcripts of > 200 nucleotides and are increasingly recognized as playing functional roles in physiology and disease. is an lncRNA gene mapped to the chromosome 9p21 genetic locus for CAD identified by the first series of genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a clinical-radiological syndrome characterized by a variable combination of headaches, seizures, altered mental status, visual impairment, focal neurological signs and symmetric vasogenic edema in bilateral posterior cerebral circulation territory. The pathogenesis of PRES is still controversial. Most of the clinical conditions associated with PRES involve a systemic toxicity response in the entire organism with activation of the cells of the immune system and cytokines.
