Background: The classification of sexuality-related conditions and conditions relating to transgender identity has generated controversy. Growing evidence suggests that the distress and dysfunction reported by transgender individuals is more likely associated with social exclusion, stigmatization, and violence than as a result of gender incongruence per se. Our study aimed to explore the experiences of South African transgender individuals through: 1) their self-reported accounts of gender incongruence, and 2) associations between their experiences of social exclusion and violence, and their reports of psychological distress and dysfunction during adolescence.

Purpose Of Review: To review the literature regarding the prevalence of mental health concerns, including psychiatric diagnoses in the TGNC community.

Recent Findings: Gender dysphoria is not the only mental health concern experienced by some members of TGNC people. Stigma and discrimination play a role in the development of mental health concerns.

We retrospectively reviewed, ten years after surgery, 100 consecutive total hip replacements in which the Duraloc 300 cup had been used. Post-operative radiographs were analysed for placement of the cup and interface gaps and follow-up radiographs for lucent lines, osteolysis, wear and migration. All the components were found to be stable with no evidence of loosening.

We reviewed 24 hips that developed femoral osteolytic lesions following cementless total hip replacement with a Porous-Coated Anatomic prosthesis after a mean of 8 (6-10) years. 15 of the hips showed hardly any radiographic deterioration in the osteolysis. 2 became much worse with dramatic loss of bone stock.

Unusual cause of ulnar nerve palsy.

An ulnar nerve palsy occurring as the result of an elbow dislocation is well recognized. An unusual case of an elbow dislocation with concomitant radial head fracture and ulnar nerve palsy caused by the radial head lying in the medial epicondylar groove is presented.
