Nasopharyngeal carcinoma survival by histology in endemic and non-endemic areas.

Background: To investigate the prognostic implications of histology among nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) using the data from a Chinese cohort and the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Methods: We included patients diagnosed with WHO II and III subtypes NPC from two independent cohorts (Xiamen [XM]-NPC cohort and SEER-NPC cohort).

Results: We identified 726 patients in the XM-NPC cohort and 1334 patients in the SEER cohort.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of reducing contrast medium (CM) volume, improving image quality and diagnostic accuracy using variable helical pitch (VHP) scanning for patients with lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD).

Application of apical negative pressure irrigation in the nonsurgical treatment of radicular cysts: A case report.

Background: Radicular cysts are one of the most common odontogenic cystic lesions found in the jaw. Nonsurgical treatment of large radicular cysts is a topic of ongoing debate, and there is still no clear consensus on the most effective therapies. The apical negative pressure irrigation system aspirates the cystic fluid and releases the static pressure in the radicular cyst, representing a minimally invasive approach for decompression.

Robust formulation of Wick's theorem for computing matrix elements between Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov wavefunctions.

Numerical difficulties associated with computing matrix elements of operators between Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) wavefunctions have plagued the development of HFB-based many-body theories for decades. The problem arises from divisions by zero in the standard formulation of the nonorthogonal Wick's theorem in the limit of vanishing HFB overlap. In this Communication, we present a robust formulation of Wick's theorem that stays well-behaved regardless of whether the HFB states are orthogonal or not.

Expression alteration of serum exosomal circular RNAs in obstructive sleep apnea patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Purpose: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are recently identified as a class of non-coding RNAs that participate in the incidence of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, circRNAs expression pattern in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with AMI remains unknown. Purpose: Ferroptosis is reported to be involved in the chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH)-related liver damage in vivo. Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) has an essential role in the regulation of ferroptosis. This study tested the hypothesis that intermittent hypoxia (IH) could lead to hepatocyte ferroptosis in vitro and the function of Nrf2 in IH-induced hepatocyte ferroptosis.

Integrative proteomic characterization of adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction.

The incidence of adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) has been rapidly increasing in recent decades, but its molecular alterations and subtypes are still obscure. Here, we conduct proteomics and phosphoproteomics profiling of 103 AEG tumors with paired normal adjacent tissues (NATs), whole exome sequencing of 94 tumor-NAT pairs, and RNA sequencing in 83 tumor-NAT pairs. Our analysis reveals an extensively altered proteome and 252 potential druggable proteins in AEG tumors.

The association between obstructive sleep apnea and lung nodule, carcinoembryonic antigen.

Purpose: The association between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and cancer risks gaining more and more attention. Data on the association between OSA and lung cancer risk are limited. This study is to investigate whether a link exists between low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scanning of the chest findings, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and OSA in patients suspected of OSA.

Strong-weak duality via Jordan-Wigner transformation: Using fermionic methods for strongly correlated su(2) spin systems.

The Jordan-Wigner transformation establishes a duality between su(2) and fermionic algebras. We present qualitative arguments and numerical evidence that when mapping spins to fermions, the transformation makes strong correlation weaker, as demonstrated by the Hartree-Fock approximation to the transformed Hamiltonian. This result can be rationalized in terms of rank reduction of spin shift terms when transformed to fermions.

Zhouqu County is located in the transition region from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the Qinba Mountains, and is an important part of the ecological barrier in the upper stream of the Yangtze River. In this study, we used the Google Earth Engine cloud processing platform to perform inter-image optimal reconstruction of Landsat surface reflectance images from 1998-2019. We calculated four indicators of regional wet, green, dry, and hot.

Relationship between severity of obstructive sleep apnea and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
