Delays in treatment of in-hospital cardiac arrests (IHCAs) are associated with worsened survival. We sought to assess the impact of a bundled intervention on IHCA survival in patients on centralised telemetry. A retrospective quality improvement study was performed of a bundled intervention which incorporated (1) a telemetry hotline for telemetry technicians to reach nursing staff; (2) empowerment of telemetry technicians to directly activate the IHCA response team and (3) a standardised escalation system for automated critical alerts within the nursing mobile phone system.

Different types of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) emerged as key players in the regulation of gene expression on the RNA-RNA, RNA-DNA as well as RNA-protein level, ranging from involvement in chromatin remodeling and transcription regulation to post-transcriptional modifications. Prediction of ncRNAs involves the use of several bioinformatics tools and can be a daunting task for researchers.

In multiple and related forms, violence is a serious public health issue with lasting impacts on health and wellness in the United States. Community health workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers and trusted members of communities. We aimed to analyze recent examples of CHW activities in violence prevention public health programs with a goal of informing future programs and research.

Black/African American (Black) versus White persons are unequally burdened by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in the United States. Structural factors can influence social determinants of health, key components in reducing HIV-related health inequality by race. This analysis examined HIV care outcomes among Black and White persons with diagnosed HIV (PWDH) in relation to three structural factors: racial redlining, Medicaid expansion, and Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) use.

Outness, discrimination, and depressive symptoms among bi+ women: The roles of partner gender and sexual identity.

Bisexual and other non-monosexual (bi+) women are at higher risk than monosexual women for mental health problems. While being in a relationship is typically associated with better health outcomes, research suggests an inverse association for bisexual women. Despite emerging evidence of differences in bisexual women's experiences based on the gender of their partner, few studies have considered partner sexual identity.

[Feasibility of a psychoeducation group for patients with anorexia nervosa: An open study].

Introduction: Management of anorexia nervosa is difficult and few treatments have shown their effectiveness, justifying the exploration of new therapeutic approaches. Available evidence suggests an interest of psychoeducational groups in a significant number of psychiatric disorders. Background: An academic safety-net hospital leveraged the federally funded state Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment programme to implement a hospital-wide initiative to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and improve sepsis care.

Methods: The study period was from 2013 to 2017. The setting is a 770-bed urban hospital with six intensive care units and a large emergency department.

Abuse and neglect among older adults impact everyone and are recognized internationally as significant and growing public health issues. A systematic review of reviews was conducted to identify effective strategies and approaches for preventing abuse and neglect among older adults. Eligible reviews were systematic or meta-analyses; focused on the older population as reported in the publications; reviewed prevention interventions; included relevant violence and abuse outcomes; written in English; and published in a peer-reviewed journal between January 2000 and May 2020.

Use of a serious game to strengthen medication adherence in euthymic patients with bipolar disorder following a psychoeducational programme: A randomized controlled trial.

In this study, participants ( = 162) were randomly asked to sentence a perpetrator for an assault in a nightclub (mild) and spousal violence (severe). Thermodynamic signatures of quantum criticality in cuprate superconductors.

The three central phenomena of cuprate (copper oxide) superconductors are linked by a common doping level p*-at which the enigmatic pseudogap phase ends and the resistivity exhibits an anomalous linear dependence on temperature, and around which the superconducting phase forms a dome-shaped area in the phase diagram. However, the fundamental nature of p* remains unclear, in particular regarding whether it marks a true quantum phase transition. Here we measure the specific heat C of the cuprates Eu-LSCO and Nd-LSCO at low temperature in magnetic fields large enough to suppress superconductivity, over a wide doping range that includes p*.

Physical, Social, and Political Inequities Constraining Girls' Menstrual Management at Schools in Informal Settlements of Nairobi, Kenya.

Access to adequate water and sanitation is limited in informal settlements, contributing to girls' challenges managing menstruation at school, especially when they cannot access materials to absorb menstrual blood and appropriate facilities for hygiene. This study documents differences between girls' experience of menstruation at public schools (where the Kenyan government provides menstrual pads) and private schools (where pads are not provided) in two informal settlements of Nairobi, Kenya. Results showed that supply chains to public schools were not reliable, and equitable pad provision was not assured.

Binge eating behaviours in bipolar disorders.

Background: Recent research, especially from the USA, suggests that comorbid binge eating (BE) behaviour and BE disorder are frequent in individuals with Bipolar Disorder (BD). Although basic clinical associations between BD and BE have been investigated, less is known about psychological or temperamental dimensions and qualitative aspects of eating habits. In a French cohort of patients with BD, we investigated the prevalence of BE behaviour and any associations with illness characteristics, anxiety, impulsivity, emotional regulation and eating habits.

Sepsis at a Safety Net Hospital: Risk Factors Associated With 30-Day Readmission.

Background: Sepsis is a leading cause of hospitalization, and subsequent readmissions are frequent and costly. There is an expanding body of literature describing risk factors for readmissions in patients with sepsis. However, there are little data studying medically underserved patients who typically receive their care at a safety net hospital.

Values as determinant of meaning among patients with psychiatric disorders in the perspective of recovery.

Effect of telomere length on survival in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: an observational cohort study with independent validation.
