Metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors are candidate drug targets for therapeutic intervention in Parkinson's disease (PD). Here we focused on mGlu3, a receptor subtype involved in synaptic regulation and neuroinflammation. mGlu3 mice showed an enhanced nigro-striatal damage and microglial activation in response to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP).

Neutropenic KPC- carriers are at high risk of KPC-KpBSI, and preemptive empiric antibiotic treatment (EAT) of febrile neutropenic episodes (FNEs) active against KPC- may reduce this mortality. We conducted an 8-year (2014-2021) retrospective observational study of 112 febrile neutropenic episodes (FNEs) in 32 children with AL who were KPC- carriers: standard EAT for 39 FNEs and active EAT for 73 FNEs (52 ceftazidime/avibactam (CAZAVI)-based and 21 colistin-based combinations, and 5 CAZAVI monotherapy).

In this context, the recycling of existing plastic objects is currently a fundamental step in the mitigation of pollution. Very recently, the outstanding development of artificial intelligence (AI) has concerned and continues to involve a large part of the industrial and informatics sectors.

diatoms are unicellular algae that have been used for more than a century for forensic purposes to diagnose drowning, with more or less success depending on the historical era. Although many years have passed, scientific research on diatoms has never ceased, which testifies to their enduring allure in forensics. Of course, diatom research has evolved and expanded over time, changing with the availability of new techniques and technologies.

Interestingly, the catalytic properties of this metal-based material can be improved by several strategies. In this Perspective, through the analysis of some explicative examples, the main approaches used to prepare highly efficient MoS-based catalysts in relevant organic reactions are summarized and critically discussed, namely: i) increment of the specific surface area, ii) generation of the metallic 1T phase, iii) introduction of vacancies, iv) preparation of nanostructured hybrids/composites, v) doping with transition metal ions, and vi) partial oxidation of MoS.

This study aims to investigate the significance of synthetic data in developing in silico trials for assessing the safety and efficacy of cardiovascular devices, focusing on bioprostheses designed for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Methods: A statistical shape model (SSM) was employed to extract uncorrelated shape features from TAVI patients, enabling the augmentation of the original patient population into a clinically validated synthetic cohort.
The circular economy is gaining attention around the world as a sustainable approach to tackling environmental problems, promoting more responsible management of resources. The aim of this work is the valorization of grape pomace as a waste product of agrifood chain. We prepared decoction (DC), ultrasound-assisted and microwave-assisted extracts (UAE and MAE respectively) of grape pomace, determining their phytochemical profile (using HPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS), antioxidant activity and enzyme inhibitory effects.

Polypharmacy regimens (five or more drugs) are highly prone to unacknowledged prescribing errors, since the complex network of drug-drug interactions, guidelines and contraindications is challenging to be adequately evaluated in the prescription phase, especially if different doctors are involved. Clinical decision support systems aimed at polypharmacy evaluation may be crucial to recognize and correct prescribing errors.

It reported that fewer than 1 out of 10 victims consulted a healthcare professional when SV occurred. These findings raise the question of how ASW who have been victims of SV get involved in care.

Hippocampal volume (HV) is suggested as an early marker for VaD, the role of white matter lesions (WMLs) in neurodegeneration remains debated.
Objectives: Evaluate HV and WMLs as predictive markers of VaD in VMCI patients by assessing: (i)baseline differences in HV and WMLs between converters to VaD and non-converters, (ii) predictive power of HV and WMLs for VaD, (iii) associations between HV, WMLs, and cognitive decline, (iv)the role of WMLs on HV.
Novel biomarkers reflecting the degree of immunosuppression in transplant patients are required to ensure eventual personalized equilibrium between rejection and infection risks. With the above aim, Torque Teno Virus (TTV) viremia was precisely examined in a large cohort of transplanted immunocompromised patients (192 hematological and 60 solid organ transplant recipients) being monitored for Cytomegalovirus reactivation. TTV load was measured in 2612 plasma samples from 448 patients.

The aim of this study was to further characterize patterns of pregabalin users from substance abuse treatment facilities and detect changes in users profile over the study period.
Methods: The data source was the Observation des Produits Psychotropes Illicites ou Détournés de leur Utilisation Médicamenteuse (OPPIDUM) program, an annual, repeated, cross-sectional, nationwide, multicenter survey that collects consumption data from patients with substance use disorders.
Invasive alien species control is recognized worldwide as a priority action to preserve global biodiversity. However, a lack of general life history knowledge for threatened species can impede the effectiveness of conservation actions. Galápagos pink land iguanas () are endemic to Wolf Volcano, Galápagos, Ecuador.

Its dysregulation may impact brain homeostasis, neuroplasticity, and potential involvement in neural processes. This systematic review provides an overview of the involvement of Hh signalling in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and antipsychotic responses.

However, its unique characteristics of production and isolation from the external environment could make it suitable for this purpose, similar to what has already been demonstrated in the literature for vitreous humor. By considering this, synovial fluid was analyzed in a specific case that came to our attention, where the coexisting signs of polytrauma and drowning were documented during autopsy, demonstrating a period of vitality during immersion.

However, the LCOE ignores the potential temporal mismatch between electricity generation and actual grid demand: this aspect is accounted for in the new index named actual cost of electricity (ACOE), here proposed. This index provides a more accurate economic assessment of renewable energy, minimizing the number of assumptions to be made and outlining the benefits of including a storage.

During their reproductive years, women with eBC should be informed of the potential risk of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and infertility with the proposed systemic therapy. Although the topic of female fertility is becoming increasingly relevant in patients with cancer, limited information is available on the gonadotoxicity of new agents available for eBC treatment.
