Materials And Methods: The study involved 58 patients with a personal and familial history of breast cancer (BC) who underwent genetic testing at the Regional Centre for Medical Genetics Dolj over a three-year period.

Basal Cell Carcinoma-A Retrospective Descriptive Study Integrated in Current Literature.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is considered to be the most common cancer in humans. It has a slow growth rhythm, and for this reason, metastases are rare. For our retrospective study, we selected 180 patients from those who underwent surgery for a variety of skin tumours between January 2019 and August 2022 and whose histopathological examination revealed basal cell carcinoma.

Retrograde urethrosonography with SonoVue in strictures of the male urethra: a pilot study.

Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of SonoVue urethrosonography in diagnosing the adult male anterior urethral strictures pathology in comparison with retrograde urethrography.

Material And Method: We standardised the method and performed a comparative study evaluating the diagnosis of urethral strictures using retrograde urethrography and retrograde ultrasonographic exploration with SonoVue on 6 male patients.

Results: In all patients, the existence of urethral stricture, localization and its extension were confirmed.

A reactor designed for the ultrasonic stimulation of enzymatic esterification.

A laboratory scale ultrasonic flow reactor capable of enhancing enzymatic reactions has been built and characterized using as a model reaction the enzymatic synthesis of isoamyl acetate using Lipozyme 435 immobilized on a macroporous anion exchange resin. The efficiency of the reactor was determined in relation to ultrasonic power density (measured by 4-nitrophenol dosimetry), position of ultrasonic horn and temperature. The results show that ultrasound can enhance the process efficiency and also reduce the reaction time.

Luminescent Solar Concentrators Based on Renewable Polyester Matrices.

This study reports for the first time the use of bio-based alternatives for PMMA as host matrix for luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs). Notably, two types of renewable polyesters were synthesized in varying molar ratios via a two-step melt-polycondensation reaction with dibutyl tin oxide as catalyst. The first is a homopolymer of diethyl 2,3:4,5-di-O-methylene galactarate (GxMe) and isosorbide (IGPn), and the second is a random copolymer of GxMe with 1,3-propanediol and dimethyl terephthalate (GTPn).

Acetalised Galactarate Polyesters: Interplay between Chemical Structure and Polymerisation Kinetics.

In spite of the progress that has made so far in the recent years regarding the synthesis of bio-based polymers and in particular polyesters, only few references address the optimisation of these new reactions with respect to conversion and reaction time. Related to this aspect, we here describe the transesterification reaction of two different acetalised galactarate esters with a model aliphatic diol, 1,6-hexanediol. The kinetics of these two apparently similar reactions is compared, with a focus on the conversion while varying the concentration of a di-butyltin oxide catalyst (DBTO), respectively, the used N₂ flow-rate.

Serum Soluble ST2 and Diastolic Dysfunction in Hypertensive Patients.

Background: Echocardiographic evaluation of left ventricular (LV) structural and functional alterations in hypertension has some limitations, potentially overcome by using biomarkers. ST2, a prognostic biomarker for heart failure and myocardial infarction patients, was less studied in hypertension.

Aim: To analyze the relationship between serum ST2 levels and diastolic dysfunction (DD) in hypertension.

[The aerobic air microflora in airplanes on various international routes].

Aerobic microflora (bacteria, fungi), in the cock pits of the TAROM company (Boeing 707 and Il 62 M) airships flying on various international routes and airports was studied during November 1988-January 1989. 157-8,800 bacteria and 78-1,336 fungi per m3 air were recorded. Except for Staphylococcus aureus (hemolytic and non hemolytic) the greatest part of the isolated microorganisms was nonpathogenic for man: Bacillus, Corynebacterium, Neisseria, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Sarcina, Aspergillus, Penicillium etc.

[Staphylococcal infections in the Cluj-Napoca Clinic of Infectious Diseases during the years 1967-1972].
