The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program was developed as a resource on which police officers could rely when responding to behavioral health calls for service. Baltimore Police Department (BPD) piloted the CIT program in its Central District to address concerns regarding officer attitudes toward and treatment of persons experiencing behavioral health crises. This study used mixed methods to evaluate the effect of the CIT pilot on BPD officer attitudes regarding persons with mental illness and confidence managing behavioral health calls for service.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFGene-recombinase technologies, such as Cre/loxP-mediated DNA recombination, are important tools in the study of gene function, but have potential side effects due to damaging activity on DNA. Here we show that DNA recombination by Cre instigates a robust antiviral response in mammalian cells, independent of legitimate loxP recombination. This is due to the recruitment of the cytosolic DNA sensor STING, concurrent with Cre-dependent DNA damage and the accumulation of cytoplasmic DNA.
