Clozapine levels and outcomes in Serbian patients with treatment-resistant psychotic disorders previously treated without measuring clozapine levels (CLOSER).

Clozapine remains the only pharmacological treatment option for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of clozapine is recommended, although evidence for the therapeutic range of 350-600 ng/ml is limited. In various countries including Serbia, TDM of clozapine is not routinely performed.

Paralytic ileus in a patient on clozapine therapy showing an inverted clozapine/norclozapine ratio after switching valproic acid to carbamazepine: a case report.

This case report examines the possible correlation between the clozapine/norclozapine ratio and the occurrence of constipation and paralytic ileus. We present the case of a 42-year-old patient diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder undergoing clozapine therapy. Despite intensive treatment with clozapine, haloperidol, valproic acid and biweekly electroconvulsive therapy sessions for over a year, florid psychotic symptoms and fluctuating mood swings persisted.

[Confusion caused by dietary supplement lithium orotate].

A 38-year-old woman was referred to our hospital with pelvic inflammatory disease. She had been diagnosed as having a tubo-ovarian abscess, for which antibiotic therapy with metronidazole and levofloxacin was indicated. Because the patient was already taking lithium she was prescribed clindamycin instead of metronidazole, a drug that interacts with lithium.

Monitoring of platinum surface contamination in seven Dutch hospital pharmacies using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

Objective: To develop, validate, and apply a method for the determination of platinum contamination, originating from cisplatinum, oxaliplatinum, and carboplatinum.

Methods: Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used to determine platinum in wipe samples. The sampling procedure and the analytical conditions were optimised and the assay was validated.

Comparative bioavailability study of two haloperidol decanoate containing products.

In our hospital pharmacy an injectable solution of haloperidol decanoate 141 mg/ml (equivalent to haloperidol 100 mg/ml) in sesame oil was prepared. The aim of this study was to prove bioequivalence of this formulation with the reference product, Haldol Decanoas. 15 schizophrenic patients, already stabilized with Haldol Decanoas, were enrolled.
