We analyse a model of optimal risk adjustment in competitive health-insurance markets which suffer from both ex-ante adverse selection and ex-post moral hazard. We find, firstly, that, unlike in an adverse-selection-only market, in an environment where also moral hazard is important, removing insurers' selection incentives requires risk-adjustment payments that do not fully equalize costs among consumer types. Current practice of attempting to correct for all predictable cost differences among consumers is then misguided.

Hydroboranes are versatile reagents in synthetic chemistry, but their synthesis relies on energy-intensive processes. Herein, we report a new method for the preparation of hydroboranes from hydrogen and the corresponding haloboranes. Triethylamine (NEt) form with dialkylchloroboranes a Frustrated Lewis Pair (FLP) able to split H and afford the desired hydroborane with ammonium salts.

Article Synopsis
  • The study discusses a new method for creating 3D models of coronary artery bifurcations by combining angiography and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to enhance understanding of complex bifurcation diseases and improve stenting strategies.
  • The approach addresses issues like frame misalignment and helps accurately reconstruct the vessel's lumen and bifurcation angles, showing strong accuracy and reproducibility compared to traditional micro-computed tomography (µCT) references.
  • This time-efficient technique could be beneficial in clinical settings, aiding in the assessment of bifurcation anatomy and disease burden, thus enhancing planning and decision-making for stenting procedures.

Target-controlled infusions (TCIs) have been used in research and clinical practice for >2 decades. Nonapproved TCI software systems have been used during the conduct of almost 600 peer-reviewed published studies involving large numbers of patients. The first-generation pumps were first approved in 1996, and since then an estimated 25,000 units have been sold and used.
