Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) can cure primary immunodeficiency diseases (PID). When a HLA-matched donor is not available, a haploidentical family donor may be considered. The use of T cell-replete haploidentical HCT with post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (haplo-PTCy) in children with PID has been reported in few case series.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLangerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare disease characterized by clonal proliferation of Langerhans-type cells, causing local or systemic effects. One of the most affected sites in children is the skull. We describe 2 cases of children presenting to the pediatric emergency department with symptoms isolated to the scalp and the point-of-care focused skull ultrasound findings, which assisted in the diagnosis of Langerhans cell histiocytosis in both cases.

Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched until February 2014 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing prophylactic LLLT with placebo or no therapy in patients with cancer or undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). All analyses used random effects models.
