Background: Abdominal obesity or android obesity, that is, the increase in adipose tissue in the abdominal region, is considered a risk factor for several morbidities. Different ways of quantifying it have been proposed, one method is the measurement of the abdominal fat area by computed tomography.
Aim: To establish correspondence between the groups defined by degree of obesity in relation to the total, subcutaneous and visceral fat area.
Background: Nausea and vomiting groups x moments. As the number of bariatric operations increases, there is a greater interest in knowledge, experience and skills in the operative and anesthetic management of obese people. Anesthetic recovery is an important point in the therapeutic approach and less adverse effects delaying discharge of these patients are necessary to be kept in mind by the surgical team.

The mitochondrial 18kDa peripheral-type benzodiazepine receptor (PBR), a high affinity cholesterol binding protein, has been shown to interact with protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) and this interaction was assumed to be involved in the regulation of heme biosynthesis and porphyrin-based photodynamic therapy in cancer. In order to test this hypothesis recombinant mouse PBR was expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant gene product showed in E.

Objective: Depression is a common problem in neurological rehabilitation. Although three double-blind studies have shown the efficacy of trazodone, citalopram and nortriptyline, antidepressant drug therapy of poststroke depression is not yet considered a state-of-the-art strategy. In a hospital for neurological rehabilitation we have performed an open study on the effects of the SSRI, paroxetine, in depressive disorders caused by neurological diseases.

The accuracy of phonotaxis in this acoustically open-loop system was investigated on a locomotion compensator with and without optical cues available. Phonotaxis in darkness was strongly meandrous with numerous roundabouts, while in a structured surrounding the oscillating course was attenuated.
