We report the design and fabrication of a nanoantenna structure on the surface of a 3D nanoliter-scale container for the development of communicable nanoliter-scale chemical delivery systems. The porous container was self-assembled, after which the nanoantenna was fabricated on the top of the microcontainer using focused ion beam (FIB) ion-induced metal deposition. The nanoantenna was structured as a rectangular metal coil composed of platinum (Pt) nanowires (70 nm in width).

We developed a nanoscale neural probing device for in vitro sensing of neural activity. Single vertical platinum (Pt) nanowires were fabricated on a microelectrode array by focused ion beam (FIB)-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in order to improve the spatial resolution of recording and to minimize damage to the cells. Rat neuroblasts were cultured on the electrode array.

Silane (SiH(4)) has been studied in a diamond anvil cell from 7-210 GPa by using optical reflection and absorption techniques at 300 K. The reflectivity and transmission measurements showed a dramatic change in the neighbourhood of 100 GPa. On the basis of reflectivity and absorption experimental data, the pressure dependence of the refractive index (n) of solid SiH(4) was derived, which was then used to determine the ratio of the molar refraction (R) to the molar volume (V).

Bullets were characterized by lead isotope ratio analysis and trace element analysis in two homicides. In one case, we concluded that a fatal bullet did not share a common origin with bullets in a box of ammunition containing 24 cartridges taken from suspects. Evidence in the second case included two bullets from the crime scene and 163 bullets taken from various suspects.
