The application of nanotechnology in medical biology has seen a significant rise in recent years because of the introduction of novel tools that include supramolecular systems, complexes, and composites. Dendrimers are one of the remarkable examples of such tools. These spherical, regularly branching structures with enhanced cell compatibility and bioavailability have shown to be an excellent option for gene or drug administration.

Long-term complications, survival and mortality in splenectomised adult transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients.

Background: Splenectomy is frequently performed in transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) patients to lower blood transfusion needs but is associated with significant long-term complications, including sepsis, thrombosis, and pulmonary hypertension. This study examines the long-term complications, survival rates, and causes of mortality among adult patients with TDT who have undergone splenectomy in a low and middle-income country (LMIC).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 103 adult TDT patients (≥18 years) who underwent splenectomy between July 2013 and March 2024.

Uncommon Presentation of Multiple Myeloma: Pleural Effusion and Extensive Extramedullary Involvement.

A 60-year-old female presented with abdominal pain, weight loss, and fatigue. Imaging revealed a pancreatic mass, bilateral pleural effusion, ascites, and lytic bony lesions. Investigations confirmed multiple myeloma with lambda light chain disease.

Multifocality in gallbladder cancer: An imaging-based study.

Aim Of The Study: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) lesions are usually solitary. The presence of multifocal disease can alter resectability and management. There are no systematic imaging-based studies evaluating multifocality in GBC.

A role for diet and gut microbiota metabolites in autologous hematopoietic cell transplant recipients.

Introduction: The gut microbiome has an established role in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT), but not in an auto-HCT setting. We have hypothesized that fecal short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and urinary 3-indoxyl sulfate (3-IS), which are metabolites derived from the action of the gut microbiome on dietary fiber, play a role in auto-HCT outcomes.

Methods: This was a single-center prospective study involving auto-HCT recipients.
