[Notes on the phlebotomus of Aïr (Niger)].

238 phlebotomine sandfly belonging to seven species have been collected in four localities of Niger, in the Aïr mountain range. Phlebotomus bergeroti was the dominant species in animal bait and in collections inside dwellings. Some attention has to be paid to P.

Several prospections have been made in the "Cuvette", a northern country of People's Republic of the Congo. 2,266 Phlebotomine sandflies belonging to 19 species have been gathered in 22 sites divided in two kinds of biotopes: forest on the hand, villages and habitations on the other hand.

Owing to adapted methods of sampling and regular captures carried out during one year, the study of a Culicoides community could be realized in the Mayombe mountain in Congo. Nineteen species were recorded. Quantity and frequency of each of them have been computed.

Owing to appropriate sampling methods, the study of the daily pattern of biting of female "Culicoides grahamii Austen, 1909" was achieved in the Congolese Mayombe. It was discovered that this pattern was rhythmical in close connection with the sunrise and sunset. Many climatic parameters were simultaneously studied (temperature, hygrometry, brightness).
