[Intestinal obstruction due to endometriosis of the ileocecal valve].

Intestinal endometriosis can rarely show itself bowel obstruction. An accurate anamnesis, radiological tests and endoscopy are of some use for correct diagnosis. Frequently however, differential diagnosis with others of pathology is not possible either in preoperative or in postoperative management, but by means of histological finding.

Recent developments in imaging diagnosis in fractures of the acetabulum: the role of CAT and tridimensional reconstruction.

The authors report their experience in a radiographic study of the treatment of 22 cases of fractures of the acetabulum. All the patients were studied using both traditional radiography and CAT, and the results were then compared. In 17 cases (77%) the CAT images were integrated with a tridimensional reconstruction (3D).

[Traumatic pseudodiverticulum of the esophagus. Description of a case in a preterm newborn infant].

A case of traumatic oesophageal pseudodiverticulum in a VLBW preterm infant is reported. Both clinical and radiological findings were suggestive for oesophageal atresia. A medical therapeutic approach, including the use of wide spectrum antibiotics and a regimen of total parenteral nutrition, was initially chosen for her highly premature status and bad clinical conditions (RDS).

[Prospective evaluation of the role of abdominal echocardiography in the treatment of seriously traumatized patients].

The reliability of abdominal ultrasonography (US) in a clinical algorithm for emergency management of blunt trauma was evaluated prospectively. From November 1, 1987 to December 31, 1988, of 111 severe trauma victims admitted to our ICU, 63 were screened according to protocol by US for peritoneal fluid and splenic and/or hepatic injuries.
