Stem cell homing to bone marrow (BM) suffers from premature differentiation of transfused cells within the blood stream, thereby reducing the efficiency of stem cell transplantation (SCT). This work is attempted to enhance the homing of cells in BM. Fibronectin modified alginate (A-F) was prepared and used to coat the cells.

Its role has been shown in improving cell survival by decreasing Bax and p53 expression and increasing Bcl-2 concentration in the cell. This potential of LiCl is responsible for reducing irradiated cell death.

Both hematopoietic stem cells and mature cells have the same genome, but their gene expression is controlled by an additional layer of epigenetics such as DNA methylation and post-translational histone modifications, enabling each cell-type to acquire various forms and functions. Until recently, several studies have largely focussed on the transcription factors andniche factors for the understanding of the molecular mechanisms by which hematopoietic cells replicate and differentiate.

Pluripotency makes embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells ideal for use, but their teratogenic character is a major hindrance. Therapeutic benefits of bone marrow transplantation are well known but characterizing the potentialities of haematopoietic and mesenchymal cells is essential.

Binding of SCF to its receptor triggers transactivation, leading to the recruitment of kinases and phosphatases to the docking platforms of c-Kit catalytic domain. Tyrosine phosphatase-1 (Shp-1) deactivates/attenuates 'Kit' kinase activity.
