This primary source of nourishment during the first days of infant life is rich in functional components conductive to the enhancement of neonate immunity and growth. Compared with mature milk, a higher protein and peptide content is observed in colostrum, whilst it is low in fat and carbohydrates.

Scientometrics Evaluation of Published Scientific Papers on the Use of Proteomics Technologies in Mastitis Research in Ruminants.

The objective of this study was the presentation of quantitative characteristics regarding the scientific content and bibliometric details of the relevant publications. In total, 156 papers were considered. Most papers presented original studies ( = 135), and fewer were reviews ( = 21).

Proteomics Analysis of Pregnancy in Ewes under Heat Stress Conditions and Melatonin Administration.

Melatonin is an indoleamine with broad spectrum properties that acts as a regulator of antioxidant and immune response in organisms. In our previous studies, melatonin improved redox status and inflammatory response in pregnant ewes under heat stress conditions. In the present study, using proteomics, the proteins regulated by melatonin during different stages of pregnancy and lambing were assessed.

Introduction: Female fertility has been a field of interest for the scientific community throughout the years. The contribution of proteomics in the study of female fertility as well as female infertility and in vitro fertilization (IVF) has been significant. Proteomics is a recently developed field, extensively applied to the identification and quantification of proteins, which could be used as potential biomarkers in a diagnostic, prognostic, or predictive manner in a variety of medical conditions.
