On March 20, preventive and mandatory social isolation due to COVID-19 was implemented in Argentina. Since then, the importance of caring for cardiovascular diseases has been emphasized. A liquid-phase microextraction method that uses a hollow-fiber solvent bar microextraction technique was developed by combining gas chromatography with electron capture detection for the analysis of four trihalomethanes (chloroform, dichlorobromomethane, chlorodibromomethane, and bromoform) in drinking water. In the microextraction process, 1-octanol was used as the solvent. The technique operates in a two-phase mode with a 5 min extraction time, a 700 rpm stirring speed, a 30°C extraction temperature, and NaCl concentration of 20%.

This paper deals about the sonochemical water treatment of acetaminophen (ACP, N-acetyl-p-aminophenol or paracetamol), one of the most popular pharmaceutical compounds found in natural and drinking waters. Effect of ultrasonic power (20-60 W), initial ACP concentration (33-1323 μmol L(-1)) and pH (3-12) were evaluated. High ultrasonic powers and, low and natural acidic pH values favored the efficiency of the treatment.

This multicenter, open-label study evaluated the efficacy and safety of decitabine in patients from Argentina and South Korea with myelodysplastic syndromes or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. Of 106 patients who received decitabine 20 mg/m(2) intravenously over 1 h once daily for 5 days in 4-week cycles, 99 patients were evaluable after receiving at least two cycles. The overall improvement rate was 35% (19% complete response +4% marrow complete response +4% partial response +8% hematologic improvement).

Water-soluble fractions from Protected Denomination of Origin Manchego cheese, with molecular weight <1,000 Da, were fractionated using gel permeation chromatography and studied using both instrumental and sensorial analysis. In 2 of the fractions, panelists detected a floral, rose-like flavor. Analysis of these fractions by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after simultaneous distillation extraction with dichloromethane identified 2-phenylethanol and phenylacetaldehyde as the compounds responsible for this flavor.
